RAMBO - HENDERSON Family Photograph 4
I have an old studio photograph of Jennie M. R. RAMBO which was taken in 1896 when she was 17 years old. The photograph was taken at the Lenney Studio in Newport, PA. She is also identified as "Lizzie's sister (SMITH)" and a note on the back of the photograph also says, "John courted her awhile in 1898". Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding Jennie and her family: Jane “Jennie” Morton RAMBO was b. 2 Aug 1879 in Shermans Dale or Shermansville, PA to parents Hugh Wilson RAMBO (1847-1916) and Nancy “Nannie” Catherine or Catharine HENDERSON (1855-1907) who were married 22 Dec 1874 in Pennsylvania. Jennie was one of three children born to this couple including Martha Elizabeth “Lizzie”; Jane “Jennie” Morton; and James McCord RAMBO, all born between 1877 and 1879. Jennie married Frank Walter SMITH (1877-1940) on 9 Oct 1901 in Dellville, PA and they had four children including John Wilmot or Wilmont; Clarence Raymond; Charles Melvin; and Roy Lester SMITH, all born between 1902 and 1909. Jennie died 25 Nov 1950 in Carlisle or New Bloomfield, PA and is buried in the Bloomfield Cemetery in New Bloomfield, PA. At the time of her death, she was working as the Housemother at Carson Long Military Academy. FENTON Family Photograph
I have an old studio photograph which is identified as Alvia or Alva FENTON which was taken at the C. P. McDannell Studio in Titusville, PA in 1886. Mr. FENTON appears to be in his 40's at the time the photograph was taken. I believe that this is a photograph of Alvah FENTON and have been able to locate the following information regarding Alvah and his family: Alvah or Alva L. FENTON was b. 9 Aug 1842 in Titusville, PA to parents Joseph Marion FENTON (1800-1885) and Mary “Polly” PARKER (1803-1901). Alvah was one of 7 children born to this couple including Julia; Sarah; Harriet; Maryetta or Mariette F.; Henry Minor or Miner; Alvah or Alva L.; and Joseph Marion FENTON III, all born between 1824 and 1846. Alvah married Helen E. MERKER (1836-1917 of Brocton, NY) about 1904 and they lived in Brocton, NY for many years before moving to Grove City, PA. Alvah died 6 Jan 1929 in Grove City, PA and is buried in the Portland Evergreen Cemetery in Portland, NY. Alvah was survived by one brother Joseph M. FENTON of Hydetown, PA. I have three old studio photographs belonging to the ECKELS Family of Pennsylvania. The photographs included in this group are: 1 – Will. P. ECKELS, taken at the Robbins Studio in Bradford, PA, gifted with message “Merry Xmas” form Mary & Will ECKELS”, 1890’s, man in his 40’s 2 – Eva ECKELS, taken at the C. P. McDonnell Studio in Cambridgeboro, PA, 1890’s, woman in her 30’s 3 – Eva ECKELS, taken at the S. A. McIntire Studio in Sandy Lake, PA, dated 1888, woman in her 20’s Based on limited research I was able to locate the following information regarding this family: William “Will” or “Willie” Plimpton ECKELS was b. 22 May 1853 in Greenville, PA to parents Rev. John ECKELS (1821-1888) and Esther Caroline LEECH (1828 or 1829-1907). Will is one of 8 children born to this couple including Mary; Emma Jane; William Plimpton; Flora Lilinet or Lillmet; Sarah “Sadie” Amelia; Clark Dela; Charles Elliott or Edmund; Arthur Briggs; and Ellen ECKELS, all born between 1849 and 1867. Will married Mary JONES (1859-1945) on 30 Dec 1885 in Kane, PA and they had four children including Martha E.; Claude or Claud Alan or Allen; Violet E.; and Hugh Nelson ECKELS, all born between 1887 and 1907. Will died 9 or 12 Sept 1913 in Kane, PA and is buried in the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Kane, PA. Evaline “Eva” M. MORRIS was b. 24 Aug 1868 in Washington, DC to parents Edward T. or L. MORRIS and Emmily RESMAN. It appears that she was their only child. Eva married Charles Edmund ECKELS (1863-1943) in 1888 and they had three children including Mildred; Morris Leech; and Mildred ECKELS, all born between 1888 and 1894. Eva died 23 Jan 1922 in Niles, OH and she is buried in Cambridge Springs, PA. CULP Family Photograph
I have in my possession an old portrait studio photograph taken at the C. P. McDannell Studio in Titusville, PA which is identified as Grace CULP. The photograph was taken in the 1890's with Grace appearing to be in her teens or 20's at the time it was taken. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding Grace and her family: Mabel Grace CULP was b. 11 Mar 1872 in Mosiertown, PA to Henry Alfred CULP (1844-1908) and Emma A. WHIPPLE (1846-1924). Grace was one of four children born to this couple including Alice B. “Bessie”; Benjamin Clair; Mabel Grace; and James CULP, all born between 1868 and 1882. Grace married Rev. Daniel Melroy PAUL (1875-1961) on 10 Jun 1903 in Sugarcreek, PA and they had a daughter who was born and died in 1904. Grace died 21 Sept 1948 in Los Angeles, CA and is buried in the Inglewood Park Cemetery in Inglewood, CA. I've recovered an old photograph of Hattie WISE SPAIDE of Meadville, PA. The photograph was taken at the Fowler Studio in Meadville sometime in the 1880's or 1890's with Hattie appearing to be in her teens or 20's at the time the photograph was taken. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding Hattie and her family: Harriet “Hattie” Della WISE was b. 28 Dec 1875 in Venango Co., PA to parents Samuel Alexander WISE (1847-1928) and Lydia “Liddie” Ann TRACY or TRACEY (1851-1915). Hattie was one of 5 children born to this couple including Effie Mae; Hattie; Chauncey Victor; Milton William; and Rose WISE, all born between 1873 and 1885. Hattie married John George SPAID (1865-1945) on 27 Mar 1894 in Meadville, PA and they had two children including Alice May or Mae SPAID (1896-1971) and Myrtle B. SPAID (1904-1987). Hattie died 14 Oct 1956 in Meadville, PA and is buried in the Mount Blair Cemetery in Woodcock Township, Crawford Co., PA. I’ve recovered the original marriage certificate for William F. SCAREM and Rebecca R. PATTERSON who were married in Knoxville, PA on 14 Nov 1894. The ceremony was officiated by A. D. BROWN, Minister. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding this couple: William Fredric SCAREM was b. 5 or 6 Jan 1872 in Pittsburgh, PA to parents David SCHAREM or SCAREM (1838-1885) and Amelia WITIKEN or WITKIN (1842-1932). William was one of 5 children born to this couple including John; William F.; Laura; and David SCAREM, all born between 1868 and 1878. William died 13 Nov 1920 in Tryonville, PA and is buried in the Tryonville Cemetery in Tryonville, PA. Rebecca Radcliff PATTERSON was b. 20 Jan 1875 in Pittsburgh, PA to parents J. Radcliff PATTERSON and Ann BROWN. Rebecca and William had 5 children including Charles; Louis Raymond; Robert Patterson; Elizabeth; Helen; and James L. SCAREM all born between 1899 and 1920. After William died, she married Thomas ROBINSON. Rebecca died 14 Nov or 5 Dec 1958 in Corry, PA and is buried in the Tryonville Cemetery in Tryonville, PA. Jessie was one of 5 children born to this couple including, Harry Samuel; Jessie; Jenet; Virginia “Vinnie” or “Winnie”; and Frank John VICKERS, all born between 1891 and 1908. Jessie married Edward Michel or Michael MADIGAN (1895-1976) and they had four children including, Edward Earle; Harry Franklin; Betty Marie; and Dorothy May MADIGAN, all born between 1920 and 1929. Sherman married Eliza RIDGWAY or RIDGEWAY (1855-1919) on 31 May 1893 in Titusville, PA and they had four children including, Linna; Dorothy; Vivian Phyllis; and William Ridgway or Ridgeway NASON all born between 1894 and 1899. Sherman died 30 Nov 1918 in Healdton, OK and is buried in the Ridgway Cemetery in Hydetown, PA. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding Fred and his family: Frederick “Fred” Samuel CARLSON was b. 5 Aug 1886 in Titusville, PA to parents Charles W. CARLSON (1851-1938) and Matilda or Mathilda Augusta NILSSON (1860-1937). Fred was one of 5 children born to this couple including siblings William Oscar; Jennie Matilda; Emma Louisa or Louise; and Mabel Charlotte CARLSON all born between 1886 and 1901. Fred married Anna Louise JOHNSON in 1911 and they had two children, Louise M. CARLSON ANDERSON (1913-1998) and Frederick Sheridan CARLSON (1917-1973) and he died 19 Jul 1947 in Titusville, PA and is buried in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Titusville. Hi everybody, Just wanted to get my Crawford County surnames listed. Louisa Green daughter of Jared and Sally Washburn of Beaver Township, Crawford county married Milton R Spears on 1 Dec 1853 Milton's mother, Calista Rathbun Spears had remarried Harvey Cole and lived in Beaver Twsp, after Harvey died she and there children moved across the border into Ashtabula County Ohio I believe that Milton's brother Henry went by the name Rathbun instead of Spears and married Sophona Taft in 1862 and ended up in Erie County.
