MILLER, Prudence b. 14 Aug 1830 d. 26 Jan 1861

Looking for any information on MILLER, Prudence b. 14 Aug 1830 d. 26 Jan 1861. She was married to Thomas E. WISE and they lived in Turnersville in Crawford County, PA.

I'm not even certain her last name is MILLER so if you have any information on a Prudence with dates near these please contact me.

Hi Jim,

I checked for the names in my tree. I do have Millers, but it’s unlikely that they were related. Aside from it being a common name, the Millers in my tree immigrated from Normanby, England to the U. S. in 1828 and settled in Mead Township.

Prudence’s maiden name was probably Miller. Prudence’s mother’s name may have been Elizabeth. In 1850, Thomas and Prudence’s household in South Shenango Township included 1 year old Mary E. Wise, 20 year old John Jackson, and two Millers. Elizabeth Miller was 53 and Francis Miller was 16. Also, when Prudence Amelia Pennman died in 1910, her parents names were given as Thomas Wise and Prudence Miller.

At the risk of giving unwanted advice, I have a couple of suggestions. Just in case Francis was Prudence’s brother, you might be able to follow up on him. Find his father’s name, then hope there is a will that names all family members. Since Elizabeth was born in Pennsylvania, but Prudence and Francis were both born in New York, their father may have died in either place.

Good luck,

Diane

Hi Diane,

All suggestions are welcome. I had been able to run down all of that except Amelia's death certificate. I will once again try to track down Francis. That could be the way to break this.

Thanks for the help.

I don’t have anything on that, but I was wondering if anyone knows if St Phillips church has any written records available for their cemetery. Two of my gggf along with many other relatives are buried there. My gggf Phillip Walsh actually donated the land to build the church and cemetery.
