Dear Listers,
I have a hunch that my Alexander Klingmann, probably residing in Berks about 1745-1752, may have been apprenticed to Johannes Ehrenhardt in Bucks.?
Are any apprentice contracts or agreements ever found in Pennsylvania? (I found one I was looking for in North Carolina.)?
I can't find a group.io for Bucks genealogy.
Any ideas?

I don't know
if any exist, but in my experience many people apprentice with
out formal contacts.?? The only way I have found to reliably
know of these contracts, is the newspaper where ads were placed
with the apprentice left without fulfilling the contract.
Northwest Ordinance: "Religion, morality and knowledge, being
necessary to good
government and the happiness of mankind,
schools and the means of education shall
forever be encouraged" approved by US CONGRESS July
13,1787 of which 41
member helped write the Constitution which was approved
September 17, 1787

Reading the notice made me wonder do you. Belong to the Berks co. Genealogical Group or PA group for assistance. ?Did you google to find data or go library to find what their library might have. ? Some of your names are in my treee but since tree was damaged I can not remember how . ?I have in that area. FOLK. FOULK BLESSING BLESSINGER ?GORMAN ? . I DID BELONG TO ONE IN BUCKS BUT WAS HACKED SO NO IDEA HOW THINGS ARE NOW?
JUsT getting back into research hoping with out another hack.

Occasionally apprentice agreements can be found in the pension records of either of their pension records if they found in the Rev. War and lived long enough to earn a pension. ?These can be found in FOLD 3 which through many public libraries is free.? ?

Thank you for writing. I’m pretty sure, if my guy contracted he kept his word because he seems to have married the master’s daughter.?
A professional genealogist searched in Pennsylvania and found nothing, but at the time he was working we didn’t know the parents’ names or the ship and arrival date. New information changes the picture.?

Might I also suggest that you check "Indentured Servant" lists. I know there are several publications out there that list persons who are considered indentured for the time period you mentioned.
