Police: We may lose CHP support over OPD pursuit policy

Governor Newsom has set an ultimatum to the Police Commission - to change the pursuit policy or risk losing CHP support.? I've written about it , and will be joining neighbors at the Police Commission meeting this Friday (email me for more information)

Fire: We may have closures of up to seven fire stations

Due to budget cuts, we currently have three closed fire stations, with ?in February.? Although there are "brown-outs" (ie. temporary), they are dependent on receiving funds from the Coliseum sale, and will likely continue with the new budget. The majority of OFD's calls are medical, so this means that it will take longer to reach medical emergencies.

Send an email now?to the city government, so that they prioritize keeping fire stations open.? You can also cut and paste the letter .

City Hall updates:

This week, the n.? We?have Kevin Jenkins as interim Mayor, and Noel Gallo as President of the City Council.??

April election preview:

The Mayor race is heating up, with over .? Congresswoman Barbara Lee her candidacy.? The deadline to file is January 17th.??

There may be two ballot measures to increase sales tax, and a parcel tax to fund the Police Commission and Public Ethics Commission - still yet to be voted on by Council.
