Anyone have a Nexstar-GPS mount with the "GPS Align" feature?

The earlier shipments of the Celestron Nexstar-GPS mounts
included a "GPS align" feature, whereby one just pointed the mount North,
turned it on, and it would self-align for the night.

This feature got removed in later handset firmware,
due to Celestron losing a lawsuit to Meade regarding that feature.

Does anyone here in the Ottawa area still have a Nexstar-GPS
with that feature?

A downside of the older firmware with that feature,
is that it suffers from a "GPS roll-over" bug,
requiring that the operator enter the current date by hand.

A hobby of mine is building electronic accessories for Celestron mounts,
which one can discover by going to

I suspect the "GPS rollover" bug can be corrected by inserting
one of these devices between the Celestron hand-controller
and the mount. But I don't have that mount, so no way
to learn more about the issue, and have it implement a workaround.

If anyone reading does have that version of the Nexstar-GPS,
then please get in touch.

Cheers
