Re: eclipse

Took a chance and dragged the kids to Cornwall.? Got lucky, had great views of the entire eclipse.? Noted two bright prominences with the naked eye.? Seeing Jupiter and Venus was really neat.? Also, noted that the spring peepers (frogs) started to sing soon after totality began, I guess they thought it was evening!!? The corona was larger and much more prominent than I was expecting, the whole thing took my breath away.? I didn't expect it to look just like the pictures I had seen, but it really did.? The temperature drop was very noticeable.? The diamond ring effect right at the end was a surprise, very white light instead of the orangish colour I was expecting.? But then it was time to put the glasses back on. Really, really fantastic experience for us.? I understand why people travel for this experience over and over again.
?

Re: eclipse

THAT was mind blowing!!! And I caught trout before totality. I didn't realize how amazing the naked eye view would be. Saw prominences naked eye!!??

Hi,

Just wondering what the cloud situation is at Granby now?

We're on our way, just outside of Montreal right now.?

Thanks?

CSC load

So, Attilla, is your CSC server dripping molten copper onto the floor?
Once the eclipse is behind us, love to see your CPU or access trends graph.

Re: Cornwall sky clock not looking good for the eclispe

That might be a great option given it’s a bit more out of the way. ?I may reach out as I near there to see if there are still spaces in that parking lot!

Re: Pre RASC Dinner?

If these started up again, I would enjoy attending occasionally (as life allows).

Good luck with solar eclipse! : )

Hello all!

I just wanted to wish everyone the best of luck with catching the solar eclipse, whether you are travelling to the totality or hoping to catch a great deep partial from Ottawa!

Denis Legault and I are in Sherbrooke, looking forward to a great show this afternoon! ?Not that I do not have access to my regular email address at the moment.

Allan Rahill (retired CMC meteorologist and amateur astronomer) just wrote an update after many people asked him where the cirrus clouds will be located ahead of the eclipse. ?He recommends going between Sherbrooke and Mont Megantic to give the best prospects.

Clear skies all, and I look forward to reading or hearing about your observations and images!!! :D

Heading for Eastern Townships right now. Currently at a Timmy’s east of Cornwall. Brockville was already patchy clouds at 7am. Had to scrape frost off the car. Sky is cloudless here at 8:45am.
