DDB Voting
CKC members, Please go to ckc, sign in and vote for the DDB. Only 22% of the membership has voted, they need a minimum of 25% at 22% and 100% approve recognition, they still won’t be accepted. It will take you 2 minutes! Roy, thank you! Sharon Robertson www.nuuktokamericaneskimodogs.com President NAEDAC

ckc voting
Please be sure to vote online for the ckc referendum. The DDB is looking for full recognition, and as many of you know 25% of the membership MUST Vote. So far, only 15% of the membership has voted. The AED went through 3 referendums (9 years) before we gained recognition, and we were so disappointed each time. Make time in your busy schedule to help them out. I’m sending this to the original breed contacts so they can share with individuals and/or members of their national breed club that may want to sign up. Rules of Eligibility are a requirement of CKC under the Animal Pedigree Act (APA) for all purebred animals under its jurisdiction. ROE are meant to establish broad and key traits for each breed to be used for registration considerations only. The ROE are not to be confused with the much more extensive breed standards which describes a standard of perfection’ for the show ring. The Canadian Kennel Club is currently looking for Canadian breeders and breed enthusiasts to register to vote. Any breeder that’s registered a litter with CKC in the last five years will automatically receive a ballot. You’re encouraged reach out to your members to support your breed and vote on the ROE. Visit our dedicated webpage to discover more about the Rules of Eligibility and how to register to vote. From: Deidre Jones <djones@...> Sent: Wednesday, November 16, 2022 4:04 PM Subject: CKC ROE Project - Non-Sporting Importance: High Hello There, I’m reaching out to you on behalf of the CKC Rules of Eligibility (ROE) Committee to set up a time to meet with your club’s spokesperson for an online Zoom meeting to discuss the drafted ROE for your breed. Registrations of purebred dogs by CKC are governed by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada under the Animal Pedigree Act. The Act requires a general description for each breed recognized within CKC's By-laws for basic recognition and registration purposes. These descriptions are called the Rules of Eligibility (ROE). The traits described within the ROE need to reflect the physical essence of the breed and must be observable and measurable, e.g. size, colour, coat, etc. ROE are not used for show purposes or judging. The creation of ROE is a requirement under the Animal Pedigree Act; all associations under the Act, including The Canadian Kennel Club, are required to have ROE in their By-laws for all of the breeds they recognize. CKC is working under the Act to create ROE for all recognized breeds and this is mandatory for applications for the recognition of new breeds. More information can be found here: https://www.ckc.ca/en/Breeding-Dogs/ROE The meeting will be about 30mins in length and you will be sent a copy of the drafted ROE well in advance for you to review and discuss with the committee during your allotted meeting time. Only one spokesperson need be on the Zoom call but I’m reaching out to the president and secretary of each breed club for the sake of awareness. We’re hoping to start booking for meetings to take place next week and continuing Please choose a timeslot between A) 12:30noon – 2:30pm EST B) 3:3

Club status
Members & Board, I know many of you really have no opinion as to whether or not we let our National Club dissolve. I was very involved with Jeannie Halmo from the very begging to get this club recognized. Jeannie and I went through an attempted take over of the club in the very early days. Roy Aitchison and I spent too many hours to count at ckc meetings regarding recognition.. After 2 failed attempts at recognition, I got membership lists from the ckc and a few of us started phoning members pleading with them to vote. It wasn’t important how they voted, as long as they voted, I also sat in lobbies at shows handing out fliers asking people to vote. This Club is very important to me but most of all to the history of Canadian American Eskimo Dog. We are in a situation now, that we could lose our CKC National Club status with ckc if we don’t hold sanction matches, and a national. For those that show, think about holding a match, it really isn’t a ton of work, and is done after BIS. You may want to think about saving your pennies and we can try to have a national in 2024. We need to make an effort! I know there is just a handful of us, but we can do it. National American Eskimo Dog Association of Canada (NAEDAC) Organized on February 1, 1998. CKC ROE American Eskimo Dog
4
Hi, This information should be shared with all Canadian Breeders, and their concerns, or questions should be directed to me. Once the following is reviewed, suggestions will be discussed by the NAEDAC membership and board. Then any changes will go to CKC for approval. This ROE will be voted on as a referendum by the membership. IT is imperative that all CKC members vote. Once again AG Canada will only approve if there is a 25% vote. Before you ask what ROE is, I suggest you watch this video. https://www.ckc.ca/en/Breeding-Dogs/ROE These are only 10 pts to be concerned with: Breed: American Eskimo Dog) Size: 3 Sizes – Very Small to Medium Coat Colour: White Colour Markings: Biscuit cream markings permissible Coat Texture/Length: Double coat; straight, no curl, marked ruff around neck Body: Compact, virtually square, deep chest, well-sprung ribs (my suggestion: Compact, slightly longer than tall. Females may be longer) Ear Shape/Placement: Triangularm blunt tipped, erect; set on high Tail Shape/Carriage: Set Moderately high, carried loosely on back when moving, cropped at rest Feet: Oval, compact, wel padded with hair, arched toes Genetic/Observable Variability: Black pigmentation (lips, eye rims, nose. (Originally, they had included White nails, I think we have all produced dogs with 1 or more black nail. Comments are welcome.) I will be the liaison so please direct yeas or nays or comments back to me. Sharon Robertson www.nuuktokamericaneskimodogs.com President NAEDAC
