Two Day Tour of the Galil and Golan with Shalom? Pollack

?Dates: Monday and Tuesday, June 23-24?

?I am excited to announce a two-day? trip to the Galil- Golan.

Yes, we are returning to our beautiful north!?

FIRST DAY: - GALIL

Depart from the Inbal hotel at 8:30 am

We shall descend through the majestic Judean desert.?

Near Maale Adumim, we will stop at a Crusader castle just now being excavated and refurbished.

?We continue to the Jordan Valley, and drive to the Kinneret and the holy city of Tiberias.

?We shall?visit a?recently refurbished synagogue?mosaic floor from the Talmudic period.

We will visit the?tomb of Rambam and other?greats in the ancient cemetery?of the Torah giants,?

where we shall?daven Mincha.

?Lunch at your choice of restaurants near the Kineret.? ??

?We shall continue to the largest archaeological?site in Israel -Chazor.

This world-class landmark was home to powerful Canaanite foes of our early ancestors. (The heroines, Devorah and Yael, defeated the Canaanite King Jabin and Sisera in the battle?of Mt Tabor). We shall witness a classic Canaanite-Israelite city from the time of the Tanach?with its grandiose remains.

?After a long and enriching day, we will check into the beautiful Kfar nature?retreat on Kibbutz Kfar Szold. After freshening up, we will have?dinner together in our private dining hall.

( I loved the experience when I stayed there.)

The cost of this little-known gem?is surprisingly low, which is very nice too.

The next morning, we will have?breakfast and have?time to enjoy the beautiful (and artistic) grounds before boarding our bus for another exciting day.

?SECOND DAY: GOLAN HEIGHTS?

Today, we dedicate ourselves to the Golan Heights.

After crossing the Jordan River, we ascend to the first line of hills overlooking pre-1967?Israel.

We will visit Mitzpe Gadot, the most fortified Syrian bunker system commanding the Hula valley below.

In 1967, the Golani Brigade stormed the fortifications, thus opening the way to crush the Syrian army on the?Heights in the Six-Day War.

We will visit the battlefield and bunkers, pay our respects, and visit the memorial (also, tell the story of Eli Cohen who stood at this point)

?We shall then visit?a Talmudic era synagogue and village that was unearthed after 1967.

?We will visit the superb archaeological museum of the Golan Heights in Katzrin.?

This museum houses the myriad archeological finds of the Golan discovered and assembled after 1967.

?We shall see a gripping film about Gamla (the "Masada of the north,") which was excavated in the 1970s.

?We will enjoy the beauty of a nature reserve, "Mayanot Kedem"

These are the springs that are the source of the bottled water from the Golan.

In the 1973 Yom Kippur War, the defenders in this front-line bunker withstood waves of Syrian assaults, holding the line, thus preventing the loss of the Heights to the Syrian onslaught.

We will visit the site and pay our?respects at the memorial.

?Descend the Heights via the breathtaking Hamat Gader road (the same one that the IDF scaled in 1967), we will be at the point where Israel, Jordan, and Syria meet.
