The Ropshitzer gave another meaning to the Hebrew words in Lamentations (1:3): "All her pursuers have overtaken her in the narrow passes." He said: "All persecutors of Israel have appreciated him when he was in dire straits. When they behold that notwithstanding all persecutions, Israel holds fast unto the Lord, then they understaind his merit."
