Rabbi Eliezer, the son of the Lizensker, commented on the Talmudical statement that Haman informed Achashverosh that the Jews neglected their duties to the king, because they professed to be occupied throughout the year with their religious duties. When asked to do their share of the work for the king, they offered the excuse: "Today is the Sabbath"; "Today is Passover" (Megillah 13) .
"But how do the Sabbath and Passover? constitute the entire year? The answer is that during all the days of the week they busy themselves with preparations for the Sabbath and teh Festivals."
