Peace and Truth
Rabbi Bunam related the following tale from the Midrash (Breishit Rabba 8:5): "When the Lord planned to create man, Truth objected because man is deceitful, and Peace objected because man is quarrelsome. The Lord, thereupon, ordered Truth to depart.
"The question arises: 'Why was Peace allowed to remain?' The answer is that after Truth has departed and Falsehood has taken its place, there is automaticallly Peace, inasmuch as false foes hide their true sentiments and give the appearance of friendship for each other."
