The last two Shabbatot of the year are critical.? In his weekly shiur, Rav Rosenblum quotes Rav?Levinshtien?zt¡±l, on the importance of being extra careful in Halacha these last two Shabbatot.? Chazal teaches that Shabbat is equivalent to the entire Torah, when one keeps Shabbat correctly; it is as though he kept the entire Torah.? We can repent for the entire year during the month of Elul, and on these two Shabbatot we can make up for every Shabbat of the year.? "Hidabroot" brings suggestions on how to treat this Shabbat with extra care in Halacha and Oneg.¡¤? ? ? ??

Sometime after the new dairy store opened, a customer came in with a carton of milk worth 99 cents. She complained that the milk was spoiled. The store owner was surprised. He had sold over 1,000 cartons of milk in the last week, and no one else had complained, pointing an accusing finger at the customer. The customer became very angry. Realizing it was not good for business, the store owner put his hand in his pocket, took out a dollar bill, and handed it to the customer. This upset her even more.? She stormed out of the store and shouted, "I will never buy? from this store again." The store owner realized he had lost a customer over a 99 cents carton of milk. He also learned a few more important lessons, and as a reminder, he placed a 3-ton granite stone near the entrance to the store, on which he engraved the store's policies: Rule # 1: The customer is always right! Rule # 2: If the customer happens to be wrong, refer back to? Rule # 1. Stew Leonard is the name of the shop owner, and the above event happened in 1969, and the granite slab etched with the store's policies still stands at the entrance to the store. Today, Stew Leonard is a chain of seven supermarkets in Connecticut, New York, and New Jersey, which Ripley's Believe It or Not! deemed "The World's Largest Dairy Chains" and Fortune magazine listed as one of the "100 Best Companies to Work For" according to Wikipedia and, is the largest and most successful store of its kind in the world. Not only that, the store is listed in the Guinness Book of Records as having the highest sales volume in the world per square meter. In this week's Parsha we learn the Mitzvah of Bikurim "first fruits". The first fruit of the seven species that grew in a person's field/garden was marked by its owner, and when it ripened - the owner of the field brought it to the temple. The verse adds one unique act of bringing the first fruits, and that is. Bowing -????????? ???? ??? ??????" (????? ?"?, ?"?) "... bow down before the name of your God" (Deuteronomy 26:11).? The act of prostration expresses resignation, submission of the ego if you will. By giving up the first fruits, after investing so much in your field, requires a great deal of surrender. When describing the services in the? Temple it says, they would "stand crowded and bow in space," this verse is describing the? Yom Kippur services at the time of the confession prayers. We learn from this an important lesson. When you "stand" - when a person stands by his convictions and is not willing to concede? - you feel overcrowded and confined. Yet when you "bow down" - when you are ready to relinquish and give in to the other - then you feel unrestrained. The next time life tests you, know that you have a choice, to "fight and argue or let go and relinquish ." The Torah teaches us to practice letting go and giving up. The Parsha refers to this idea through the commandment of letting go of the first fruit. In life, we will encounter many situations of conflict with others, and we will have to choose between standing our ground and giving in to the other.? May God give us the wisdom to know when to react and when to let go. May we have a Shabbat of peace and tranquility. Shabbat Shalom, Rav Yitzchak Fanger.
