Today's Inspiration - Moadim l'simcha!
Essentials for Sukkoth
A Hasid asked the? Dzikover before Sukkot to grant him a blessing so he might have an exceptionally fine palm branch, ethrog, myrtle twigs and willows of the brook for the festival. The Rabbi replied: "What you need for Sukkot is a kind heart, a humble spirit, a turthful mind, and the will to perfect yourself. After you have attained these, it will be time to concern yourself regarding an exceptionally fine set of the symbols for Sukkoth."* *First attain arba midoth and then acquire the arba minim. Warmth and Coolness
Said the Tzanzer: "After we are warmed by the glow of our fervent service to the Living God during the High Holidays, we are commanded to find coolness in the Sukkah." "After our exhausting labors in the service of the Lord during the Fearsome Days, we are commanded to recuperate by a week's rest in our tent-home." Source: Esser Tzachtzachoth |

D'var Torah from Rav Fanger Sukkot Sameach
On Sukkot, we take the four species, each one symbolizing a part of the human body. The Etrog symbolizes? the heart, the Lulav, the spine, the Aravot, the lips, (the leaf of the Aravot resembles a little like lips, so there are two Aravot to symbolize two lips.) Then comes the Hadasim, myrtle what?do they symbolize? The eyes (the leaf of the myrtle is similar to the shape of an eye.) As far as I know, we have two eyes, so why do we have three Hadasim? From here we?learn one of the most important lessons of Sukkot - to teach us to look at the world differently, with another eye. A more generous eye, a positive, favorable eye, a kind of "third eye". Chazal teaches?us that on Sukkot - "Leave your permanent residence and go to to a temporary dwelling" May we have the ability to abandon our mental fixations - and give ourselves the chance to change, ?a chance at faith,? a chance at love. Sukkot?Sameach? Rav Yitzchak Fanger |

Myrtle and Lulav
Said the Gerer: "Each one of us should know his place. You cannot make a Myrtle inot a Lulav. A man, however, can join himself with one who is known to be of more consequence. He then becomes attached to him, even as the Myrtle is to the Lulav." Source: Siach Sarfei Kodesh |
