Hi Do you have ear ringing too?
|
????????? If the problem is congestion, rather than a drippy nose, antihistamines could just make it worse by drying the nose out.? Rather than a neti pot, I have an attachment
for my waterpik that allows me to blow isotonic saline up my nose.? I make my own saline.? I also use intranasal steroids, but my nose if often too congested for them to get up far enough, so I use a nasal spray to open up one nostril and then hit it with
the steroid spray.

I use the bottle, but the neti pot would work.

N.O. .. neuro-opthamologist .. the specialist for NAION .. as opposed to the average opthalmologist ..
In my case .. the managing opthalmologist immediately saw vision failure, and immediate ordered a CAT scan and ER exam .. super fast ..
Everyone should have such professional treatment...

The surgeon was well aware of my Naion diagnosis. Knee surgery is more stressful than hip surgery for obvious reasons but I have no regrets. The other knee was done in 2018 also with great success. I stupidly stalled on having my knees done for probably 10+ years due to fear of further vision loss.
I totally understand the fear of undergoing surgery for those of us with this non curable eye condition but sometimes you have to set that aside. With that said, I am more concerned about what cataract surgery's outcome might be down the road. But? I was assured that they don't use epinephrine any more.

Thank you for you words of wisdom. My vision is okay but hazy so I lose detail and clarity the further away something is and my near vision has been effected too. Contrast and detail are an issue for me but I noticed that depending on weather, time of day, my vision changes to either good or bad. Xxxx

In general .. after a few months of NAION .. your brain will neurologically "adjust" to NAION .. and your vision should stabilize.??

Citicoline has been
investigated for the treatment of depression, schizophrenia,
stroke, Parkinson disease, brain injury, and cognitive
deficits (ie, mild to moderate dementia and Alzheimer
disease, cerebrovascular disorders), as well as for its
ophthalmologic effects. However,
clinical trial results have been inconsistent; therefore,
citicoline cannot be recommended for any indication.

The paper you referred to is not the best,
IMO. The NAION entries in Tables 2,3,and 4 for work by the
author of the review article are essentially identical. ?At
best, this is sloppy. But frankly, as a scientist who also has

This clinical trial was completed in 2017, but has posted no
results (really, how long does it take to do the analysis on

It is cheap and probably can’t hurt. It

glaucoma. But I don’t see anyone prescribing it for any
neurodegenerative condition.

I guess he has not read the study. Have him

I would also strongly recommend vitamin D3. I take
5000 units a day and my vit D level tests at the high
end of the normal range. Most modern societies are
deficient in vitamin D because people no longer work
out in the sun all day but are inside offices and
factories. Sunshine is what creates vitamin D in your
skin. This deficiency has been shown to aggravate
several modern health problems including cancer.
