Highlights from the September 30, 2021 Board Meeting


 

The NAFA Board of Directors held a Zoom meeting on Thursday, September 30, 2021. Highlights from the meeting are listed below:

- The board unanimously voted to make the CanAm Classes of racing World Record eligible. This eligibility will be in effect beginning with CanAm 2021 (Oct. 10, 2021).

- Executive Director Neil Flood asked the board to approve his appointment of Dave Strauss as the new Regional Director for Region 13. The board unanimously approved the appointment.

- Neil and the entire Board send a huge thank you to both Keira Chin and Terri Parrow Botsford for their many years of work and dedication to NAFA and Region 13.

- The warm-up dog spot (formerly known as the 7th dog) has been added permanently. All rules that were in place during the trial period will apply to the warm-up position.

- Nominations for the upcoming elections are closed, and thank you to those that submitted candidates for Judge of the Year, Board of Directors, Hall of Fame and MVPs. NAFA is validating all the nominations and will publish them shortly.

- The Special Measuring Committee will soon release their measuring training videos for judges to view as part of their laser level measuring certification requirements.

- The Marketing Committee revealed the winning design of the Junior Handler Pin contest. The winner's name will be announced at CanAm. Thank you to all the junior handlers that submitted entries.

In addition, the committee is close to completing a design for the Judge¡¯s tenure recognition pin and hopes to have a mock-up for review at the next board meeting.

- The CanAm Steering Committee is pleased to announce that will be live streaming CanAm 2021 live from Indianapolis, IN on October 8-10, 2021. The link for the live stream can be found here:

The CanAm classes will be recorded for a 2 hour flyball special to be broadcast on ESPN2. The date and time is yet to be determined and will be sent out via NAFA¡¯s social media channels and NAFANews.
