CQ WPX RTTY This Weekend! 3
Hi All, CQ WPX RTTY is this weekend and runs 0000 UTC Saturday to 2359 UTC Sunday! CQ WPX is really cool! Everyone can work everyone for points and multipliers, so you don't need a robust DX station to make a lot of Qs. In addition to DX, there will be plenty of stateside stations to work too! The exchange is just 599 and a progressive serial number. Multipliers are simply prefixes. For example, W3, N3, NE3, WC3, K3, KA3, KB3, etc. are each separate prefixes that each count as multipliers. You'll find the complete rules here: https://www.cqwpxrtty.com/rules.htm And the logging software for this contest (which takes care of the serial numbers for you automatically) here: https://www.n3fjp.com/cqwpx.html Several free digital programs that interface with our software are here: https://www.n3fjp.com/faq.html#q50 If you need sample macros for your digital software, this will get you going: http://www.nemarc.org/macros.html Please install and connect your digital software to our CQ WPX software early this week as detailed here: https://www.n3fjp.com/help/digitalsetup.html Getting the software set up is easy and we are happy to help before the contest starts, but once we are in contest mode, the support hat comes off!!! Lord willing, I am hoping to bring a good effort for this one and work you on RTTY this weekend! Enjoy!!! 73, Scott N3FJP http://www.n3fjp.com ¿ªÔÆÌåÓý the Amateur Radio community with contesting and general logging software since 1997. 1 Peter 3 vs 15: Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. Double Entry 3
I looked at an entry #63646, which didn't help me. I haven't changed anything, but recently AClog is duplicating contacts. These come from WsJT. It has occurred in just the last week after logging thousands of contacts correctly for years. I shut everything down and rebooted the computer, so it would eliminate running duplicate programs. When I get anything running, I rarely tweak settings. I will use them for years Ross N8GMY

Should I panic? 9 #aclog
I opened up ACLog this morning and was surprised to find only log entries from WFD and CWT dated 2025/01/25 to 2025/01/29 instead of my entire log. Looking at my PC, I have files named "all n3fjp LogData-2025-01-Week-4" and older backups, but nothing that's obviously a full backup of my ACLog. What do I do now? 73, Ken KN2D

Software quirks 6
Probably me, but... The call signs are RIGHT JUSTIFIED in the call box. When you right click to get to the end, the undo, cut, etc window pops up. I need a F-key shortcut to place the cursor in the call box. I'm busy using the mouse for something else. Also handy would be the worked map to have a ALL bands result option along with the individual ones. The world map is awesome. I'm having a great time with the 160cw & WFD contests at the same time! Using RI: in CW F key definition - kudos and request to provide way to terminate in progress CW 5
It is really great to be able to define RI: sequences to allow F key sending with my Elecraft KX3. One less box (the WinKeyer) taking up space on the desk, and fewer interconnect wires. Especially nice in a compact portable setup. The ONLY issue I've found is stopping a CW sequence that's in progress. With WinKeyer, it's great that beginning to type (or I guess any key press) terminates the current sending. I wish that could still happen when using RI instead of WinKeyer. I understand the problem: once the command has been sent to the KX3 it's sending it asynchronously and the logger program is not in control or even aware. I think there's a reasonably simple way (I know, easy for me to say...) to fix this: provide a field called maybe "RI: command to interrupt in progress CW". Then for my KX3 I put in "RI:RX;" which aborts whatever is being sent and puts the radio back in receive mode. I have this on an F key, and it works, but it's not nearly as convenient as just start typing. Also, it does not stop the repeating of an F1 CQ. So I have to press F key for RI:RX then ESC (or start typing) to get it to stop. The suggestion is if I start typing, in additional to stopping the CQ loop which you already do, send that special field (if not blank) to the rig. Or maybe, since you know from Rig Control setup it's an Elecraft, then probably you already know the rig command to send and just do it, no special user field needed. This would make RI perfect as far as I can tell. Thanks - Bill N7DZ

#HamDash 7 #hamdash
Hi Scott, Thanks for absolutely great software. I stopped by one of my local club's WFD setups yesterday (Lake Monroe Amateur Radio Society in the Orlando area) and saw - (better said that I was reminded that) - the club, N4EH, uses N3FJP software - which was probably the original reason I bought it. :) Question: when you use N3FJP contenting software, does it automatically record results to HamDash? Or do you need to log into HamDash separately? 73, Ken KN2D

Winter Field Day: Mapping your contacts 2
You can upload your Winter Field Day ADIF log to: https://www.qsomap.com/wfd.php a QSOMAP.COM subscription IS NOT required for this map. Just click on the above link. I copied the generated HTML and added a background image by adding background_image_url: "https://thesaegers.com/images/wfdfaded.jpeg", to the generated HTML and then copied it to my private website. https://thesaegers.com/wfd2025.htm Hovering a mouse over a worked section (green) displays the stations, band, and mode of stations worked in that section.

Contest questions (WFD) 2
Scott, First of all, this is absolutely awesome. I believe our club has been using N3FJP for our 2nd or 3rd year with contesting so we really enjoy this feature. I have two questions regarding Hamdash itself. First, we noticed that multipliers appeared to be listed for clubs still actively recording qsos. We initially thought they must have been finished and already submitted their logs but we noticed they were still active and running a frequency. I was just curious as to how and when the multipliers get applied. Second is the setup of Hamdash itself. Our club has a mobile trailer with 3 rigs but we may rotate about 10-20 operators on those rigs. We are using 3 rigs connected to their own logging station and 1 pc as the server saving our logs and uploading to hamdash. How do we associate more operators than rigs to appear in Hamdash? If it is not currently, would it be a difficult change to recognize the operator as they sign in? This second part is difficult to put together in words, so forgive me if it seems all over the place. I see on your club's website and Hamdash page how you have many operators. KD2X Steve

Bulk Edit improvement/suggestion 2
Hi Scott and all, I have a suggestion for improving the Bulk Edit functionality: If there is a range of records already selected in the main display, then default the start/end record numbers in the Bulk Edit dialog to the record numbers selected. This can save frustration/embarrassment when more records get edited than intended. -- -Thomas AC9BJ Mount Horeb, WI EN53da he/him/his

Your Favorite Mode for HF Digital Contesting? 25
I am looking to get back into digital contesting, last time PSK-31 was popular. I am on FT8/FT4 but they do not seem piratical for exchanging contest reports, I know of other modes that are popular modes these days , JS8Call, RTTY, ETC for various state/ other digital contest. What is your favorite mode and why you prefer it? I hope to have something ready for this years VA QSO Party. Thanks Steve AG4SO

Newbie: HELP with Elecraft K3s -- Settings for USB & CW 3
First-time user here, with a question on setup and settings for CW (N3FJP general log) using a single, simple USB cable link between laptop and the Elecraft K3S. Please see below. Greetings. I'm looking for suggestions to the easiest, simplest set-up procedure, and settings, for CW mode only, using a single USB cable between a Windows-10 laptop (with N3FJP) and my Elecraft K3-s transceiver. The K3s connects to the above laptop now for normal N1MM, or DXLab CW programs, and for years has worked well with either program, without the use of an external piece of equipment of any kind, and without any additional app or additional software of any kind. I just want to do the same with N3FJP software, and need some guidance on where to look in the many pages of HELP documentation. So far, I have yet to find anything that works, rather, I have found lots of suggestions on adding additional equipment or additional apps/software, none of which I want to touch. Thank you vy much.
