Easy Way To Duplicate A Log Entry?
I'm sure this has probably been discussed, but I don't remember when...
This morning I was scanning across 15 & 20 meters for Parks On The Air stations to work, and I managed to work a few... Later this afternoon while looking at my Hunters log on the POTA website and I notice that one of the stations I had worked this morning had activated a 2-fer (an area where one entity like a State Park overlaps with a National Park, Historic Trail, WMA, etc) and their log shows an entry for the entity I logged plus another one. What is the easiest or best way for me to duplicate the one entry in my log so I can have one entry in my log for each POTA entity I worked? -- I'm good in the callbook! 47 & 73 de Travis KB5ILY / PG00041468 870-260-6068 (Phone) -- Travis W. 1 - click on the record you wish to duplicate so that it is highlighted
2 - File -> Export ADIF -> selected record? (remember where you save the ADIF file)
3 - File -> Import ADIF then find the file you just made and import it.??
?
you can then edit the imported record to record the new park number? if you so wish.? If you are sending it to LOTW change the time by a minute or 2 so that LOTW doesn't think its a duplicate.

If you do it this way don't check for duplicates in your log without checking for pota numbers.?? I am not sure if there is a way to include sig_info in dupe check sent by ve3wej on samsung s21+ On Tue, Apr 1, 2025, 10:33?p.m. Jim Pole via <hamditter=[email protected]> wrote:

I didn't remember if there might have been something that didn't involve Export/Import hiding in maybe the top menu's Recall or something. 47 & 73 de Travis KB5ILY On 2025-04-01 21:33, Jim Pole via groups.io wrote:

Hi Travis, Thanks for your e-mail.? Use Recall when you are entering the park.? Just tab over and change the park number. I've never used RECALL. POTA seems like a situation where it would be useful. If working a multi-op station, use RECALL and change the callsign. If working a 2-fer, RECALL and change the park.
?
In the case of 2-fer , the other way to avoid LoTW rejecting the dupe is to mark one of the QSOs "QSL Sent = Y" (ie check the box), and "Conf Sent By = L". This way ACLOG won't include it in LoTW uploads.
?
Is this why RECALL exists? If not, when else might it be useful?

Thanks - Bill N7DZ? |

The only issue I found in trying that, was that Recall only Recalled the last QSO logged, witch this 2-fer wasn't, it was more in the middle of the pack. I didn't learn that it was a 2-fer until about four hours later as I was getting ready to shutdown for the day and head to a meeting. As a test I did single-click the log entry to highlight it and clicked Recall, however, info from the last QSO of the day was populated into the QSO entry window and not the highlighted QSO. 47 & 73 de Travis KB5ILY On 2025-04-02 05:45, Scott Davis via groups.io wrote:

Hi Travis, Thanks for your follow up.? Recall is designed to retrieve the most recently entered QSO. If you must have the second park, I export the contact to an adi file, then edit that file in notepad, change the park number, then reimport... Dave Garber VE3WEJ / VE3IE On Wed, Apr 2, 2025 at 2:03?PM Scott Davis via <SNKDavis=[email protected]> wrote:

Yes, your suggestion of exporting the entry to an adif then re-importing it was mentioned earlier and that is what I ended up doing. At the moment, I even went so far as to create a specific directory in my ACLog directory named "Pota Edits" that will have exactly one file in it, AClogADIF.adi - the default log export file name of whatever POTA related log entry that I need to duplicate at the moment. Maybe a slightly rhetorical question, so I don't expect any form of reply on it: If I did not have all the parks logged that I have worked, how would Scott's fine software know when to place the "New" indicator over the corner of the SIG_INFO field in the contact entry area vs when not to? 47 & 73 de Travis KB5ILY On 2025-04-02 17:16, Dave Garber via groups.io wrote:
