Thanks for your e-mail. Yes, by pressing the F12 key you enter "keyboard" mode.? Each character that you type is sent.? When you want to exit and return to logging, just press F12 again.? I am very interested in using the CW interface, but before either
building the circuit or buying the cable, I wanted to make sure the software did what I hope. Perhaps I missed the full description, but in the help screens for CW setup, I only see mention of using F-x keys to send preset strings. I figure there has to be some way to send arbitrary text once in the middle of a QSO, but I'm not 100% sure and would want to be able to do that. Does this feature exist, and how does one use it? Thanks, Jim (kb9dna) hey jim...you hit the f12 key and you can send code through the keyboard....it worked for me.....i didnt like it so much.... but it was all right....went to radio shack and got all the supplies for about 18.00..... it took me about 2 hours to make and test the rig.....i made the mistake of tring to make the interface on the 25 pin lpt1 port first ....insted i went to the 9 pin com 2 port and all went ok......i also ran into the problem of having a continual key and the cw was back wards....i turned the input pins around and it solved the problem...works great and now im ready for FD...good luck doug baker kg0tw |

well dee i hate to be anal but what port are you talking about....if you are
refering to the serial port....i had the pins swapped IAW the print ont n3fjp web site....i turned the pos. and neg. around....if you are talking about the parallel port you are going to need a optic isolator for the interface rig....i have a print for that but i cant find the parts to put it togeather.....for the opic iso look on the arci qrp web page under the dupe logging program and the have a pic of an opic isolater.....hope this answers your Q....the interface for the serial port WILL NOT WORK on the parallel port.....if you need more info let me know...72's....oo |

I've had lots of good reports from users who have constructed the serial port interface on my website.? I believe the serial schematic is fine. if you assembled the interface as per the drawings on the web site then it
should work....i was getting cw backwards because i had the input pins wires backwards from the drawing.....if you are getting a steady key you might want to check your diodes to see if they are in correctly....the band should be on the side of the transistor.....hope this helps....doug |
