Trouble shooting sound card function

 

Function keys will key radio but audio does not come through.
?
Asus laptop running windows 11 connected to FTDX-10. ?All other functionality is fine. ?Radio is keyed for appropriate length of time given size of .wav file.
?
Upon initial connection an error message along the lines of "the device has no valume property" is displayed.
?
Is it right to assume that this is an issue with getting the sound card properly set up? ?Where does one start?
?
Perhaps someone in this group has already solved this identical problem.

It's a little confusing because the sound card setting is not in the main (first on pulldown) Configure menu and you don't even see the audio config menu choice until you've hit the checkbox underneath it.

1: First click on "Config" in the N1MM entry window. You'll see a pulldown. Several notches down there's a checkbox for "Use Logger+ Audio". Make sure that's checked.

2: Now re-select the "Config" in the entry window. There's now a voice?called "N1MM+ Audio Setup". Pick this.

3: In the Audio Setup, you'll see on second?tab "playback" a menu like below. You want SO1R. You'll probably have a couple choices in the radio device setup. Depending on what generation of Windows and audio drivers it'll be something similar to (but maybe not exactly) "USB Audio Codec". Cycle through these until you find them. If your PC or PC's monitor has speakers you can select that as a sanity check on WAV's to hear the audio with your ears, but when that's chosen the sound isn't going to the rig.

Following the advice of @@timshoppa in the above thread, starting with the point of choosing N1MM+ audio setup from the config menu:
?
Open Playback tab
Select SO2R:? Single Soundcard Mono? ... Single Soundcard L/R? also works just fine.
Select Speakers (USB Audio CODEC)
?
Check box "Internal Radio Codec"
?

Sure, you are using a sound card in the radio.

You shouldn’t expect it to exist in the Windows audio hardware table when the radio is powered off.
