Spectrum click

 

Hello,
I'm using AirspyHF+ for Spetrum via N1MMSDRServer.? Sometimes, when I click on one of the signal on spectrum, control doesn't jump there, or jump on some other signal, up or below the signal I clicked! I can't imagine why is that happening. My OS is WIN11 - 24H2 version, N1MM is with last update.

I suspect you do not understand the meaning of the red dots.? They indicate where the program thinks the signal is.? With CW, it is very precise if you have sufficient resolution (50 hz or so).? With SSB, it can jump around a bit.?

I'll bet you have "snap to signal" turned on?? Do you?? DON'T turn it off. It is the best part of the spectrum display.?

You are supposed to use Shift up/down to jump from signal to signal (red dot to red dot). If you cannot bring yourself to do that, at least try it, especially on cw.

If you must pick the EXACT spot that you want the radio tuned to, do it in the waterfall.? It's easier there anyway, since you have historical data to aid your selection.

Contesting is a heads-down activity.? You shouldn't be using the mouse very much.

Yes I understand the meaning of the red dots. Here at home with my dipole antenna, there is a lot of noise on 40m, where I usually work. So there are spoted signals buried in the noise I can hear, but my Airspy can't "see". But in my case this is not the problem.

When in S&P, I don't use Shift Up/Down, because for me on CW, it is more useful Ctrl Up/Down, as I'm receiving RBN spots via Telnet (with all necessary filters set), and there is usually a lot of them. In that case, I only take a look at spectrum, if signal is still there, and then listen carefully is spot was correct!?

On SSB, I rarely work, there is not so many spots as are RBN spots on CW. On SSB, I mostly do S&P, because with my modest equipment at home, and my with years cracked voice , RUN would be like "torture of small animals" HI. I use mouse, to jump from EXACT signal to signal on waterfall. And here comes the problem, I wrote about. I click on waterfall track, but sometimes control or doesn't go anywhere or goes somewhere else. I noticed that for the first time, in yesterday WPX SSB contest, I worked on 40m, with my FT-2000, Kelemen 160/80/40 dipole and ACOM1000.

Otherwise in RUN, my head is down, and mouse on standby, yes HI!
