Replacing keel winch

Arrrrgh! The winch cable is all r-r-rusty!? Has anyone here:
1.? Used line instead of steel cable to lift the keel?? Maybe kevlar-r-r?
or
2.? Used an electr-r-ric keel winch on their N16 or similar boat?

I’d suggest stainless cable, though I would probably try dyneema myself, because I can’t do anything the normal, easy way. You’d have to be careful about dyneema RE chafing at the ends where it attached, use nice smooth ss shackles to cow hitch the splices to. Do not tie knots in dyneema for critical applications, use end splices. Eye splices in dyneema are surprisingly easy and once you have done a few, you will be about 40% saltier.
