Re: N Gauge abd DCC

Hi Terry,

Thanks for sharing with us what you're up to! In terms of a DCC system for those locomotives, virtually any DCC system will suit as just about all mainstream DCC decoders are NMRA DCC compliant, alongside all mainstream DCC systems.

Personally I highly recommend the Digikeijs DR5000 command station as it represents great value for money on a quality European made DCC system, features onboard WiFi so you can get started running trains using the Roco Z21 Android/iPhone app, and allows the connection of Digitrax, Lenz, Piko, ESU, EasyDCC plus more physical throttles - the actual DCC hand held controllers made by the following manufacturers. It's a 3 Amp command station so can easily run a small home layout with multiple locos able to run or sit at idle at once. I can source them for $280 from Ridgepoint Rail, a Digikeijs dealer up in Queensland.

The NCE system is very popular in Australia, however I feel it lacks modern innovation, and is a lot more expensive than the DR5000. I'm also not the biggest fan of their controllers/throttles, as they're a little dated and a little too complex for what they are. Also, Digikeijs are about to release a NCE throttle to loconet converter, which will allow people to use NCE throttles with the DR5000. Handy for those that are used to the classic NCE throttle!

Have fun building your railway and looking around for more stuff!

I'm in the process of building an N gauge on a regular size door, so far so good, and I'm using Peco track and points, proving the system as I go with a very old dc controller. My ultimate aim is to have my railway running on DCC, at the moment I have a Life Like (Gulf Mobile and Ohio A and B unit) plus a Kato 10-1299 155 excursion train. I need some idea of the better DCC systems for these two units, ( no doubt there will be more). All advise and guidance is appreciated.

My back ground in trains is 2 HO systems from 1971 to 1985, then 7 and 1/4 " with a 44227 diesel loco, then a Shay, coal fired

Selling n-scale layouts

Hi, my father has a layout that he is selling due to his dementia getting worse. I was just wondering if anyone can help put me in the right direction to being able to sell it for him. We live in Brisbane. TIA
