48v FET-capsule circuit for longer cable runs?
Hi everyone. I need to build a mic with a PUI 5024 capsule that can be phantom powered AND be happy driving long cable runs. I think that rules out the Simple P48 circuit.
I am aware of Scott Helmke’s Alice circuit, which is a contender. Thoughts? I’ve used the OPA Alice to great effect with non-FET capsules. Is there an obvious FET capsule version of this circuit? Thanks in advance for your input! Jonathan |

Probably any of the Alice variants are good for this application. Generally the 2.2k resistors connecting to the FET would be a bit higher value with built-in FETs.

I have 2 semi-permanent balanced runs of about 50 ft, from the outside to my den, and I've currently got a pair of AOM-5024s with the simpleP48 powering on it... and they work very well.
So I would very much recommend trying a pair of simpleP48-powered capsules on 120 ft of mic cable just to see what you get. |
开云体育I have run my AmbiAlice on 100ft snakes on a stage with lighting etc with no issues - it is four channels of SimpleP48. ?BTW the SimpleP48 actually provides a balanced output. It is not 100% balanced but about 90% impedance balanced ?Best Regards, Jules Ryckebusch? On May 9, 2024, at 09:58, kennjava via groups.io <ken@...> wrote:
