Hello!
The cannon that Homer is interested in, and Charlie describes in
Memorial Point, has an interesting connection to New York State. The
Foundry was in Cold Spring New York near the railroad tracks. I say
was because it was eventually demolished and probably became a parking
lot.

Hello!
In both "The Big Kerplop" and one of the stories in the third book in
the series of four, Charlie mentions an old mine, and that a cave on
the property is in reality a mine there for zinc. But, was it ever
disclosed what caused the mine to cease business?

For example, I'm into electronics and computers, and so forth, I got
started with batteries and lights and things like that. Those
batteries were carbon-zinc based. I'd have thought that during the
time period that the series takes place in, such a metal would have
been in great demand for primary cells.
