Version R1.001 online.

Art

Hi All:

Veriosn 1.001 is online as the development version. R1.0 is still available
and will be until 1.001 passes all tests. Nothin new in Lathe, but a few bug
fixes and changes..

1) Rutex button in Motor tuning should read PID variables in real time.
Please let me know how stable this is if you use rutex drives. Only handy
for setting pots at this point.

2) SendSerial will no longer send when loading or simulating the file.

3) Macro's may now be from M100 to M99999

4) Repeat is fixed and is located on the main screen. It seems very stable
now.

5) New Macro command GetParam( param ) and SetParam( param,value);

Only 6 commands are in Get and SetParam, but this macro command will be
added to constantly. It is used as follows:

X = GetParam "XScale"
SetParam "XScale" , 2.45

So far only the 6 scale variables are added, but more will appear shortly.
Any requests in this area will get their wish on next release. These macro's
have the ability to get you almost any variable in the program, from
scaling, spindle speed, current offsets, feedrate, your printer port
address, steps/unit..whatever. They can be very powerfull if enough commands
are added. This gives a macro the capability to get the current DRO reading,
repeat number, Z-Inhibit, Safe_Z, tool length settings...etc... and set them
all as well.
The ability to call an OEM code will appear shortly so you can press any
screen button from a macro, this means the macro's can switch screens, set
DRO's, send messages, etc....

I'm working on the other reported bugs from this week for the next
verison.

Thanks,
Art

HUhh?? Does that mean there is nothing new in lathe, or there are a
few bug fixes?

What happened to buggy spindle or is it still there?

Steve:

Sorry, no. That means almost nothing has ben done to Lathe since last
version. Sorry, but too much developed this week in mill to get time for
lathe. I am looking into speed issues now.

Steve:

I did find the problem with dwell, it could really screw things up in
threading due to the shift in encoder counts being calculated during the
spin-up or down. This has been repaired for next version. I am still looking
for the X problem....

Sorry - it's not for me. Sometimes it does not repeat, sometimes it
repeats but does not decrement the Inhibit-Z value, sometimes it
runs once, once the pulse rate went down to 100. All with the same
test rectangle G-code as before. Never had it work as expected in
twenty+ tries. The controls are not on the main screen as indicated
so I thought I had wrong version (does not say 1.001 in Help) but
downloaded it again and M99999 works a treat.

Can anyone else make:

f100
g1 z-10
g1 x5
g1 y10
g1 x0
g1 y0
M30

work with Z-inhibit initially = -1 and Lower ZInhinit on each pass
set to 0.5 and 12 repetitions? (it's for Metric Units)

Best wishes

John Prentice

John:

Strange, mine repeats the program fine. Does the grenn light beside the
repeat box go on when you enter a repeat value? This indicates the program
knows to repeat when M30 is hit...

Also, your repeat controls are not on the first "program run" page? Mine
are...

I probably screwed up something, I will recompile a new verison.....

John,

No I can't, but the file 18sq one up_r2_speed changes.zip I just uploaded
works perfectly. !IF! I use these settings:

Lower Z inhibit by .5, Z inhibit set to 2-, five passes.

Safe Z is zero.

The Z inhibit is now set to -4 and if I run again the program continues to
cycle with Z inhibit increasing -4.5, -5.5....

This should reset to the initial value., I think.

I also find the repeat count resets to 0 when I rewind, I guess it should for
safety's sake.

Servo's electronic acronyms file omits the one commonly used for
idiots like me :=( The controls were not on Program Run screen
because my profile was for my development version of 1024.set with
the caption labels before they were released - I might have worked
that out for myself - sorry. But.. I still cannot make repeats
work...

When you enter the repeat count it does light the LED. However the
entered Z-inhibit value is not effective. There seems to be two or
maybe three "stores" for this value. The On/Off button on screen is
reflected in the Configure Logic dialog but setting a Z-inhibit DRO
value does not appear in Configure Logic (although changing Z-
inhibit on Configure Logic does update the DRO). Mach2 seems to use
the Configure Logic one when handling Z moves and M30 counts down
the repeat count but does not update either Z-inhibit value. I.e.
the Configure Logic control, which was 0 at load time, does not
change and the DRO does not change from its initialised value of -
1.0. So the tool runs round the rectangle at Z=0 the specified
repeat count number of times.

A final observation - Mach2 has just dropped pulse rate to 100 again
in middle of these tests. Reloaded OK but repeats are still a
problem.

I think that Frank's uploaded ZIP file has no contents - at least I
cannot find anything it it using WinZip 8 or the Windows XP unzipper

Best wishes
John Prentice

I'm having the same problem here. Every time the cycle ends count is 100.

John, fixed the file, sorry 'bout that. Uploades as 18sq one up_r2_FIXED.zip

John:

Yup, I probably screwed up something again. I will remove the multiple
referances to the Safe_z and Inhibit variables to see if this corrects it.
The pule dropping to 100 confuses me....

I will look into this tonight...

Thanks for the confirmation. I will try to find the problem this evening...
