Step/Dir with V7.2?

Steve Blackmore

Is anybody running the latest version of Mach2 with spindle speed
controlled by step/dir?

If you are - does it work as expected??

If you are running an earlier version, please let me know which one
works for you!!

Steve,

I'm in the process of changing over to M2 and have just checked the
spindle Step / Dir circuit. Using a 100Mhz 'scope I can see that a
lot of pulses are being injected into the pulse train. I am using a
D-FF as a pre-scalar and it is very easy to see the injected steps,
they appear to be at maximum kernel speed.

Initially I was working at 35KHz, but I also checked at 25K and could
see that the pulse train frequently increases by about 25%.

One for Art to look at when he gets back.

The problem I have, is although they are being generated the steps out
are reverting to some arbitrary value. Although Mach2 seems now to be
storing the value, what it puts out isn't what I set. I can get my 10V
max out if I adjust motor settings, but on closing Mach2 and
restarting, although the values in steps per unit & velocity haven't
changed, output voltage is down to 6V, re tune and it's back to 10V
for that session only.

Another problem is on jogging steppers, the steps output to spindle is
dropping?

Yep - I thought it might have been today, but not sure.
