single block

Single block fixed yet?

开云体育

Hi,

A redo of single block was a MAJOR part of this new version that will be released in the coming week. We have some Tangential bugs with single block that we are looking for now but all in all it seems to be great for Mill and turn. if you would like to see how it works we do have some test versions on the FTP server.

Thanks
Brian

Hi Joemac,

It is the OLD way of testing a program .. You would load up the file and press single block a million times to dry run the file and make sure the Dist to go is correct and all that jazz. Frankly I see little to no value in Single Block. I test my code by running with the FRO and RRO at zero when I start the file. I run nice and slow on my first run and after that we are green flag racing :) . Now one thing that Single block is good for, is pausing the program at the end of a move. because it will allow the move you are currently on (or whatever you have for blended moves) to finish and stop at the end of the move. That's a handy feature but again I never use it.

I was originally trained to use Single Block but after working in industry and having to get some volume of work done I quickly changed my ways :) . But for some old habits die hard and they really hang on that feature so it is really important to them. Because of that, that is why we redid all the lookahead, feedhold and singleblock code. It is so complex to do single block in a buffered control that it took about 4 months to get it working as we wanted!

Enough of me telling what I think :)

Thanks
Brian
