MACH4 and Lathe Spindle encoder

开云体育

Can MACH4 Lathe still work with only a 1PPR spindle sensor or does it now require a full quadrature encoder and Index pulse?

It works either way, unless something has changed in the last few years

It's just I had a question on how hard to migrate from a MACH3 1 PPR to a MACH4 system and whether mechanical and electrical changes were required to use MACH4 due to a quadrature encoder requirement for RPM measurement.?

?

Back in the days of single parallel port it was an issue due to lack of inputs and horrendous prices of quadrature encoders.?

I ran Mach4 for years using a single-pulse setup. I only changed to an encoder a few years back

Thanks.

Did you find any difference in behavior?

Nothing that I noticed, but I didn’t really try to find any differences either.

?

Threading (once they finally made it work) was fine with either method.

Yes, it can work with an encoder or an index pulse.? Check this out:
