Mach2 jog keys lag

Hi art my x y and z axis jog keys have a large delay when I load in
Gcode.I push the key and it takes a moment for it to engage and when
it does it moves quite a distance after I let up. this was happening
on rc7 and now 10. It appears that the larger the file size the
longer the delay. As it is now I have to close the file whenever I
want to jog with any kind of control. I'm using the special driver .

Very strange,.this is probably related to an external issue and seems to be
affecting the GUI timing. I haven't heard of it before. I will give it some
thought. What speed CPu is this? ANything running in the background?

700 mhz celleron. Just the usual windows stuff running in the
background.

I'll try turning some things off in the task manager and let you know
if it helps.

Hi Art
Well I turned off every thing I could and still have the same
problem. I'm thinking it's a video problem. I noticed that changing
from tab to tab on the GUI the screen changes are very slow.

Any thoughts on this?

Derek

Here s what you do to fix your problem,
right click on "my computer" icon
left click on properties,
click on Advanced,
click on settings,
Then check on "adjust for best performance".
Let me know how it goes

Well its getting weird

If I bring up the task manager and open up Mach 2 the CPU usage hangs
around 15 percent. When I load the Gcode the usage jumps up to 100
percent and becomes sluggish. If I minimize the screen size the CPU
drops back down and everything works fine. If I grab the lower
left corner and make the window larger everything is good until it
gets to about ? size and the Cpu jumps back up. The memory is
staying constant the whole time.

Thanks
Derek

Yes, video could be the culprit. The screen switch should be very fast at
this point. Mine are pretty much instant. I can't find a problem which would
explain it except a lagging GUI. Is this at 25Khz?

Hi Arturo
I'm at home on an XP machine. I'm running windows 2000 on the
problem machine but I don't think it has that option.

I'll check it out when I get to work in the morning.

Derek,

The symptoms sound much like my PC acts when I have Mach2 and the Internet opened at the same time. I'm running an Intel P4 3.06gHz CPU and even with that Mach2 still demands the undivided attention ( resources ) of my PC. If you suspicion that it's the graphics adapter that is your problem then go to the display properties and change it back to standard VGA, that will tell all.

Don't know what Video card you have but I had similar problems on my Compaq laptop with a ATI Radeon 7500. Switching to 1024x768 or 1280x1024 resolution (from the native LCD 1440x1050) and disabling some graphics features (settings\display\settings\advanced\troubleshoot blah blah) did the trick. Turn down the functionality to minimum and crank it back up notch by notch.
I find some programs are really unhappy with LCD specific resolutions and advanced features, many Dos legacy programs like MasterCam flat out refuse to tolerate them at all.

Mach2 will work at any res. for me, but enabling the fancy 3D stuff results in some pretty weird looking toolpaths and a choppy cursor.

Hi Servo
I started up in vga mode and the problem went away. unfortunatly I
only had 640x480 res and that aint gonna cut it with mach2. I tried
uninstaling the video card drivers and reinstaling but that didn't
work either.

I see from my rapidly overflowing mailbox that some of you have an email
virus. I have letters from several with "Approved" or "You details
attached.".

I suspect a bad new virus is on the warpath....

There is old, mass-mailing virus called W32.Sobig.F@mm that appears to be
making the rounds again, and I have already received emails with the virus
as attachments and just deleted them...

If you receive an email with these characteristics, delete it immediately
and clean out your Deleted Items folder.
