Forum closing

? Hi All:

? ?On the subject of? Yahoo closing the forums and whats happening..

?Very shortly this forum will close, I have requested a full archive file from?

Yahoo and their building it now. Ive contacted Brian and he will be taking the?

archive and making whatever he can available on his machsupport forums?

group.?

? While it was considered to move the group to groups.io, as Brian?

runs a forum now it didnt make sense to run a separate second one.?

? I think we started in about 2003, so this is one loong running group,

Its been a p[leasure being your moderator for all those years, and while

I havent been here much lately, I have always watched from a distance

and shared my view when needed.?

? ?Should you find you need my input, jump over to the gearotic site

and post a message there and Im happy to answer anything that?

only the developer might know.??

?Otherwise youll find all this ancient knowledge on Brians forum?

at ?when its all shut down.

?Thanks to all of you who followed Mach3 on this forum over

all those years, its a lot of good memories on my side. Ive met

some of my favorite people right here.

?I wish you all the best in your CNC journeys. :)

I really like this format more then the forums. I find the forums clumsy and slow. I looked for something more like this and I didn't find anything good. I would be willing to host something if anyone has a good idea.

I prefer the email forums too. I don't think I've even ever visited the machsupport forums. It's really all about costs unfortunately.

I paid $110US to get one year of larger disk space on the groups.io forum for E-Leadscrew. At the end of the year if disk storage is below a certain amount I can drop it back down the free version.

Some of the group members have been kind enough to donate small amounts to this one year subscription so it's turning out not to be as painful. We'll be moving this weekend.

I'll post how easy or difficult it was when it's done.

According to the Yahoo notice: these groups aren’t closing, merely having a “major function reduction”.

Ok then.

All content (files, messages etc) will be deleted, but messages can still be sent. Groups will be made private, and no new members unless the admin adds them.

How long that will last is anyone’s guess…

Tony

Hi Art and all members:
The match forum held a big place in my old heart ,for many years, as well as other groups like CAD CAM DRO,
Between these two groups, I have seen over the years a great number of products being developed , like Master5 ,Geckodrive, and others that my frail memory has hidden I the dark basement that is aging memory..
Sure it has been a great time and hope that the still healthy forums will take over were Yahoo has abandoned us in the middle of the journey.
Cheers all
See you around
