PWM Schematic

Hi,

Art said to ask questions here. Ok, I am looking for a schematic
that uses the PWM signal from Mach2 to control the spindle RPM.

Anybody?

Thanks.

dfx conversion

csgchum

Just downloaded trial version of mach2 release one
If I export a dfx file from corel 9 and convert it to g code
nothing visual shows in tool path, only a red box and a tangent line.

If I generate a g code from another program with this very same
dfx file then export it to mach2 I get a drawing and looks as though
it runs ok. Are there settings that need to be set in the program
before it works properly. I had down loaded a different mach2,
prior to this and it sort of worked, at least it did the draw thing
after converting but many features did not work such as the
dros. I have deleted the program many times and reloaded but
to no avail.

Sounds doable.

2.a. File Mode - Load and run a G-Code file as normal except on every
move, do a Z-plunge till the touch probe is triggered and capture
coordinates. Would work similar to your current digitzing function
but users would have the flexability to load a spiral path, or index
the A-axis to digitise a ring, etc.
Very hard to do in current code base. I'll give it some thought. Souns
like what is needed is a G30 Wizard to do the digitizing of a particular
shape instead of the usual digitizing grid.

2.b Trigger a laser range finder instead of doing a Z-plunge.
Hmm, This is possible. It would require only changing a Z movement into a
laser index trigger....Perhaps the above could be done by something
similar... I will give it some thought...

Thanks,
Art

Re: "OT" Mainboard Recommendation

Jeff,

The MS9307C+ (USB) does not have onboard video. It has been my
experience that boards with onboard LAN and video can be kind of
QUIRKY due to the shared memory. Graphics adapter cards work from
their own memory and most generally do not cause conflicts with other
processes. I would suggest that you stay away from mainboards that
have onbard LAN and video. Onboard sound is not an issue due to the
fact that it is not a key component. Mach2 has no use for music and
will not share resources with sound.

Release of Mach2Mill Manual Revision A2

John Prentice

Hi everyone

The files section has a PDF of the latest revision of the Mach2Mill manual i.e. Revision A2 (actually A2.3) which supports Mach2Mill Release 1.0. It should now be accessible via the link and I imagine Art will upload it to www.ArtofCNC.ca shortly.

It is a long time since we have had an update so you will find lots of new material and information in it. The total size of the manual has been kept in check by the technical details of screens, functions in macros etc. being put in the Mach Developers Network (MachDN) folder on this group.

If you are daunted by printing a copy you might like to visit www.tormach.com where Greg Jackson is offering and excellent "hard-copy" service.

Another route for printing it as a handy booklet is to use the FinePrint package (www.fineprint.com). This re-arranges the pages so they can be printed double-sided on A4 (or for a full size version on A3 if you have a big printer). The A5 (or folded letter size) booklet has slightly small text for my eyes but is very handy to use and economical to print.

OEMs might be interested to know that an OEM Documentation Pack is available which allows you to customise the manual to suit your machine(s) and customer base. Existing people on the distribution list for this will shortly be notified of the access to the new version. If anyone is interested please contact me (or Art) off-list so we can give you the details.

I have had many useful contributions from careful and enthusiastic reading by Mach2 users. My public thanks to everyone. The work is ongoing so further suggestions will be most welcome.

Work has started on the Mach2Turn manual so there should be a fairly complete manual when 'Turn goes to Beta.

I showed my setup to a total neophyte the other day, explaining what
is does, the best I could in 15 minutes, and the first question he
asked was if the program could learn a routine from jogged positions.

Jeff,

Would you be interested in a mainboard suggestion? If so I can point you
towards a new mainboard that works very well with Mach2 and it is very
reasonably priced.

Re: video question for art

Art

Hi Jeff:

Unfortunately, its a "usually" type of answer. Earlier integrated video
boards did not turn off their on-board systems well. Later boards were much
better. I prefer a board with no video on baord, but if you have it, and
turn it off "usually" this will cure the trouble. (if any exists.). There
are some board that have integrated video and do not share the ram, so they
have no trouble..

Unfortunately, its hard to tell between them...
Hope this helps, (But I doubt it...)

John:

The allowable range of Macro's on the next version is 99999, also the
repeat function is repaired. I found I had forgotten to change an int to a
double. (Simple stuff like that drives me crazy. Sometimes works, sometimes
not. )

You can't use the digitizer from the OCX as yet, I need to add some hooks.
But there is a OCX ref. file in the files section I think....
I will be collating the OCX data very soon and will re-release an updated
version.
