1.? Is Friday the thirteenth an unlucky day? What is "an unlucky day?" I suspect a 24-hour period with a demonstrably greater volume of undesired happenings? Yet this is all subjective, the very concept of happening?being something built?uniquely by each human mind (what is included in an "happening"? What is excluded?), so before we even get to "unlucky", we are stymied! No. 2.? What was the most memorable one day of your life? I remember many, but none very well. I do remember a moment when I was very young, solidly preadolescent, and I badly wanted to be a cowboy?(after a few movies?on the topic!) I suddenly had an epiphany?and decided I was?a cowboy even though it might be awhile?before I get a six-gun and a horse. Or even a hat, as we were very?poor. I felt much better after that realization, at p[eace with my new path. As an older adult, I have a six-gun but have only ridden a flesh horse twice! Iron horses I have many more miles under my backside, though. 3.? What was the one most memorable hour of your life? If the next question is about minutes...damn. I peeked ahead. I cannot really say. I do not much hang onto such. Probably something from boot camp as I have flashes of moments there, like night maneuvers and marching practice?(short inseam.) 4.? What was the most memorable one minute of your life? This brought a recall of climbing out of a river?gorge. I reached a point maybe ten feet below the top and ran into a smooth clay incline formed from years of water runoff from the road above. Reversing was not an option, I discovered, as the rocks beneath were not easily climbed and my body was tired. I pushed up onto the clay and lay flat, realizing I was doomed?to slide down and out over the end of the ramp like a drop of water. Then I spread my body across the greatest area I could, flat to the ground, and inched?my way to the top because there was no real choice other than probably death. I did not die that day and I surmounted the gorge. 5.? Do you suffer from Trump Derangement Syndrome or Harris Derangement Syndrome? Politics is continuing to annoy me. My behaviors do not, in my opinion, closely resemble either of our wanna be fearless leaders'. I really think we should rethink the criteria for presidential?candidates and consider a few new stipulations. Having said that, I would not personally take the job and so perhaps this is one of those positions needing to make the best out of the available volunteer labor pool. |

Grad school graduation day in June,?1985. ? 3.? What was the one most memorable hour of your life? Getting married. 4.? What was the most memorable one minute of your life? Skiing over the headwall at Tuckerman Ravine. 5.? Do you suffer from Trump Derangement Syndrome or Harris Derangement Syndrome? The latter.? I can't imagine how bad things will be if she is elected president, though if Republicans hold onto either house in Congress, (and they will probably gain the Senate but lose the House) it will blunt damaging legislation, but Harris will issue a bunch of goofy executive orders and make a bunch of foolish appointments. ?
