Friday Five January 24
1.? Will the ceasefire in Gaza solve anything? It may save a few lives, including some belonging?to existing hostages. I do not see a more enduring political improvement because the fundamental philosophical differences continue and the fan base for each?faction remains. While I do not wish to seem pessimistic or present as a doomsayer, I expect we are simply entering a breather which will be used for regrouping?by both the Israeli forces and the Islamic extremists. This would include redistributing Gaza's population in order to reestablish the noncombatant shield for the terrorist presence there. 2.? Would you buy a gold bar from Costco? I am less thrilled with gold in general, possibly because I do not have the disposable income for such investments. My answer is no, although it has less to do with the source of the purchase than with my own circumstances. 3.? Should birthright citizenship be abolished? I think it should remain for legal immigrants training for citizenship, but be reviewed case-by-case?for illegals because I see the potential for abuse. There are claims the abuse already exists. I think it would be just fine for a new mother legally participating in the citizenship process, however, assuming that mother avoids any criminal activity. Thus, my answer is that it should be revamped to support streamlining with other immigration processes and guiding intent. 4.? Do you support Trump's order that illegal immigrant felons be deported? Depends upon the felony. Conviction for foreign political crimes might warrant a special review, but crimes against people such as muder, rape or terrorism might not. A prospective immigrant might request a review?of circumstances to ensure there was no extenuating circumstances, but this would likely be enacted before?the person is granted asylum. At least, before the person was allowed to roam freely amongst U.S.?citizens. From a broad perspective, I would?support deportation of criminals, especially those representing?a clear and present danger to citizens.? 5.? Do you think all of Trump's cabinet appointees will be confirmed? I think the overwhelming majority will. A 100% success rate would be a bit too high of a goal for me to bet on, but we do seem to be well on the way. I guess we will know when Hegseth's?nomination is resolved! |
开云体育Only if Israel stops interfering with Palestinian rights. I wouldn't buy a gold bar from anyone. I have no use for it. The Constitution doesn't allow that, so no. Should deport Trump, too, since he's a felon. I sure hope not. Aloha, Celeste Rogers |
