1.? Will Newsom and Bass be recalled?
Unlikely

2.? Will California change it's permitting and environmental laws?
Probably

3.? Should bulding and planning codes be relaxed to allow people to rebuild after natural disasters?
No. That would likely lead to another similar catastrophe.

4.? Should the federal government impose conditions of improving forest management to any bill helping California recover from this week's fires?
No. I don't think that anyone in Trump's regime knows enough about that.

5.? Should people be allowed to post anonymously on the internet?
That's quite the vague question. People already do post anonymously on various internet platforms. I don't pay any attention to them, though.

1.? Will Newsom and Bass be recalled?

A quick check online?seems to indicate this is a common threat against Newcome that is currently in its sixth or seventh iteration. It seems unlikely that he will shoulder the majority of the blame for the failed preparations, even. Fire rolls downhill...

2.? Will California change it's permitting and environmental laws?

So far I would say no. The state government seems to me to have identified strongly with its "progressive"?perspective in such areas.

3.? Should building and planning codes be relaxed to allow people to rebuild after natural disasters?

On an individually-evaluated basis, sure. We have many more disasters coming in my opinion and the past workaday approach to such things will prove inadequate.

4.? Should the federal government impose conditions of improving forest management to any bill helping California recover from this week's fires?

I am unsure if this exact approach is politically viable, but I like the idea of attaching at least a commitment to a think-tank style of review.

When I was traveling through Kentucky two years ago and Ohio last year, I walked a couple of woodland trails and saw intimidating amounts of deadfalls and scattered fallen logs and dead trees. Enough so that every step of the entire walk was filled with many examples. I suspect there are many areas of the country that place a low priority on maintaining fire prevention in the woodlands and California simply has unfortunate weather to exacerbate?the problem. It is possible that this expense will rise in importance as the deteriorating climate situation forces attention to it. Even the wetter East and Northeast areas will burn.

5.? Should people be allowed to post anonymously on the internet?

How would you stop them? I am a big believer that the Internet is both a great equalizer and an evolutionary-level boon to human?development. Anonymity is a contributing factor that allows people to speak plainly even when their thoughts are unpopular?or might subject them to reprisals.

After reading of the harm done by online predators and thieving scammers, though, I am also of the opinion?that online policing could use some new funding and innovation. In my darker moments, I sometimes feel the death penalty could be judiciously applied to those who steal away Grandma's life savings or some child's life. (That thought was, of course, presented anonymously!)
