1.? Is it possible to think deeply about people who exist only as abstractions / news accounts?

The term "think deeply" is probably going to be interpreted with significant subjectivity by everyone answering (else?maybe I am just thinking too deeply about this) but I think yes. The mind represents everything via symbols and so we actually think not about the person but about our symbol, or idea, of the person. So, since we can create symbols of abstracts as easily as those assigned to any living being, why?not?

2.? What is the relationship between information?and prejudice?

Depends upon the thinker. I want to say that information alleviates prejudice, but since we each interpret information in our own way and sinec we each cherish our declared stances, resisting change?to them, I suspect I would be a bit optimistic to expect critical thinking to override prejudice.

3.? If RFK comes out for Trump - will that affect the election?

I suspect so. The points are already close and RFK will likely?add more to Trump than to Harris.

4.? Did you watch any / all of the Democratic National Convention?

Nope. I just grab snapshots from?the online news. More efficient?use of my time. I am not really moved by the drama.

5.? What do you think is the most urgent situation in the world today?

Using what criteria? There are several that seem equally pressing to me. I feel weather extremes are scary huge threats as they are not to be reasoned with. They just blow through without caring for consequences! Nuclear saber rattling has at least some small chance of being impacted by common sense. Of course, disease threats are no more concerned with my comfort than weather threats, but they seem more vulnerable to human?intervention through such actions as isolation and medical responses. Social unrest is similar to political posturing in that human morality, feeling and social response has some chance of mitigating the behaviors. All in all, I think the most urgent designation depends?upon today's events and my mood.

I also have a short somewhere?in the clearance light circuit on my RV and that is likely to be very tedious to resolve...

1.? Is it possible to think deeply about people who exist only as abstractions / news accounts?

No.

2.? What is the relationship between information?and prejudice?

Information leads to prejudice, ?Eventually information can also change or eliminate prejudice.

3.? If RFK comes out for Trump - will that effect the election?

Possibly; it's hard to draw a bead on RFK supporters, since it's hard to find consistency in RFK's message.? However, the country is so finely divided, that it's possible that a swing state may shift either way in the end because of what RFK does.

4.? Did you watch any / all of the Democratic National Convention?

I watched Bill Clinton for a little while, but the rest of it, including the commentary was pretty shallow.

5.? What do you think is the most urgent situation in the world today?

The wars in Ukraine and Gaza.
