indi driver update.
Anyone out there that is using indi and is comfortable compiling it please give the latest master version in the repo a try. I've added quite a bit of L5 and L6 features along with some bugs. I've fixed the bugs that I've found, but would love to fix any remaining ones. The driver exposes more commands appropriate to the gemini software level.?

You can get it here:

I've made a makefile that I use to pull and build indi along with the rest of the software stack on my raspberry pi running astroberry. It should also work on intel / mac, but I haven't tested the Makefile on anything but a raspberry pi, and an intel running ubuntu.?
?
If you want to give the makefile a try it is here: ? ? Along with some instructions for which packages are needed on an astroberry:
?
The master branch of indi has my up-to-date changes so you don't need do do anything special other than cloning master and building.?
FYI the master branch is unstable. It's for development and testing. Please help test so it goes into stable! ?

My changes made it to stable. It's available in the latest stable indi lib, and the latest StellarMate as well. I don't see it in astroberry, but that should follow soon. It should be much easier to test now.?
?
Let me know if you find any issues!

Thanks Brian. There's nothing quite so satisfying as working on something that you love. My updates are really simple but hopefully useful.?

Hi, Jamie
Is this new version included in the latest ASIAIR firmware update? ever since I updated my ASIAIR Plus firmware, GOTOs and auto-centering are consistently failing for me with my GM811G mount. If it's not included, is there any way to update the driver in ASIAIR? There is no root access to the ASIAIR so I can't simply ssh into it and update the Indi drivers. Glenn |
I have no insight into the asiair. I don't have one, and haven't been able to gleen what version they are using. I'm not sure what logs they provide, but there may be some version information in those. If you can get those I might be able to tell.?
edit: this is the release log from asiair -- I don't see any mention of indi updates, but I'm assuming that there have been indi updates, and they just don't mention "indi" Having said that, I don't expect my changes to result in this. I did not modify slew commands.? Jamie -- jamie.amendolagine@... |
The asiair is a raspberry pi. If you're comfortable doing so, you can load any rpi distro including astroberry, stellarmate etc. It's a bit of a time and effort investment though. Just use a separate sd card to try it out. Those two distros do have my driver updates.?
If your time settings are off, slews and plate solves can fail. I'd check that first.? ? -- jamie.amendolagine@... |
Jamie I recently installed the stable release of astroberry.? The Ekos version is 3.5.5.? I am pretty sure that your code is probably not in there.? Is it safe to install the latest version of astroberry?? If they advertise a stable release, then I presume the latest is unstable.
Any advice on how to update/upgrade Ekos in a safe way?? I need something in a later release and started with apt-get update/upgrade and got several error messages.? I am getting errors about Buster and astroberry.? The indillib link talks about an rpi-update command, also telling that it broke the entire installation. Hopefully nothing is broken after what I did.? Looking at a link in indilib?, it has a long procedure but it's unclear if that is just for upgrading. Your comment about just upgrading sounds easy, did I miss something?? Of course, I don't want to reinstall my entire distro from scratch, just want the updates, and not from source code. |
I'll help as best as I can, but you may want to post to the indi/ekos/astroberry forum. They are very helpful and responsive.??-- this forum covers all things ekos/indi/kstars/astroberry.?
I don't think that the link you provided is the right way to upodate astroberry. That link looks like a users documentation for getting a raspberry pi to work with the ekos stack on ubuntu-mate -- it's from 2016! I hope that you didn't follow it!!! This is a good reference for astroberry:? These are the instructions for updating from that wiki:? "While connected to the Internet you can update your system by running below commands in your terminal: sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade && sudo apt dist-upgrade" I just tried that update command on my RPI and it succeeded. I can see the version of indi like this:? apt list indi-bin Listing... Done
indi-bin/unknown,now 1.9.7+deb10u1 armhf [installed,automatic]
So it's on 1.9.7, and you can see the changelog here:? That has my changes and you can see them in the changelog:
