Dec and RA Motor issues

Edited

Just with in the last 3 weeks, I have issues with the G11 RA and Dec motors (I think).? Even if the hand control is set to slew, both motors move the telescope very slow. The
mount was powered with 110 v
I use an Asiair to control the scope so initial I thought that might be where the problem was (Don't know why but I though I would check). Disconnecting the AIR did not solve the problem.? The G11 was purchased 9 years ago and has worked perfectly up until now. I don't know where to start. Any suggestions ?
?
Thanks

Don,
?
Have you checked the speed settings in the Advanced Gemini Settings? I have mine set to around 1/2 the default setting to give me extra time to view mount movements with my remote security camera lag.

Don,

110V is well outside the recommended power range, which I think from memory is between 12V and 18V.

I would first check that the correct voltage is holding up when slewing as this can be a problem.

In addition there is a setting that determines the slewing speed, if this has been set slower, unintentionally, it would slow the slewing speed.

Sounds like system is set to photo or visual mode. ?Not all speeds. ?

Also check the the mount and gear ratios are set ok. ?You need to inspect all settings or reset it to factory and do your settings again, Aka mount type, location, time zone etc.?

Just a question does it run a sidereal ….aka follow a star?
?
cheers

By 110, I assume you mean the AC adapter.
?
Speed wise, you need to use the mount hand controller to set up slew and move speeds. By default, mine was also very slow.

I am hoping you meant that the Gemini 2 is using a small 12V-16V power brick plugged into utility power.??
?
First, have you replaced the battery in less than 6 months? ?If not get your tools and Digital Multi-Meter (DMM) out and verify the battery is reading at least 3.0V. ?If it is not at least 3.0V replace the battery with a fresh - name brand - coin cell and immediately manually set, save the time and.reboot the Gemini 2.? There is a technical reason for this that has to do with the processors having a small design issue that this routine resolves until the battery is replaced again.
?
If your battery was good and/or after a battery reboot is done if you are not intimately familiar with the Gemini 2 internal settings the easist way to clear out corrupted settings and hidden data that frequently cause issues like this is to do a Reset to HGM values. This will reset almost all settings and set the Gemini 2 internal settings to a known working condition. ?Do this AFTER you read and understand the following.?
?
When do you have a problem with the movement speed of the mount?? Look at the speed settings on the HC and in the ASIAIR app, the mount speed is meant to be dynamic, in some situations you want the mount to move slowly and others faster.?
?
The Gemini HC top menu has the SPEED button which is used to step through the speeds available in whatever MODE the mount is in.? The MODE is set by the HC > MODE button and button behaviour is set by the HC > BUTTONS button.?
?
For the ASIAIR movement speed it settable on the pull out GOTO side menu. Look for the SPEED lable and the vague slider with a number above the slider on the left side of the pull out menu. Use a finger to slide the speed up or down.?
?
Hopefully this resolves the mystery.? But if this is not the problem let us know.?
