Hi All,
So, I have a Gemini 2, and two 492 digital drives. One of the 492 digital drives has an issue I've not experienced before. When I power it up, the Tracking Rate Selection indicator light flashes non-stop regardless of which tracking rate is selected. Powered the other 492 and it works normally, no flashing indicator light.
What is causing the flashing light on the first 492, what is it trying to tell me???
Clear Skies!!

I have a non Gemini 492 and when my tracking rate lights blinks it means my battery is low...and when it gets really low I lose my slew speeds. Sent from my iDork

The power tank must have been just borderline...okay on one 492 and not the other. Plugged in the 12 volt power supply I normally used on that 492 and the flashing was no more. Thanks Joe, I learned something new today!!

FYI that answer was correct: flashing indicates low power situation

Low power causes the 492 to blink. Note that the AC to DC power source sold by Losmandy has an output of 15v at 4.3amps.

Ummmm.
The Gemini units are spec'd to allow from 12V to 18V for higher torque.
But the 492 units are not.
They use 12V stepper motors only.
The older Hurst motors are stamped 12V on them.??
I have the concern if it is safe to use anything far above 12 V on a 492.? ?I'd stick with just 12 V for the 492.? Maybe the blink is a warning that the input power is not right?
All the best, Michael

492 units can use 12-18v DC power input
you can use the current Losmandy AC/DC 15v power supply, for example
