Gemini 1 SRAM error/WD reset/garbled display

I have a Gemini 1 system with V1.04. On startup I see SRAM error then WD reset. Only in the option Setup/Mount type the LED display is garbled (nonsense). A new battery was fitted to no avail. Could this possibly be a fault (corruption) with the SRAM module U9 on the PCB? Any other possibilities??

Hi!

Sorry to read of the trouble.

You will need your G1 repaired.? It may be a corrupted EPROM, but more likely a blown SRAM chip, needing surface mount board resoldering.??

Depending on your locale, I suggest you send it to:

Michael Herman in the US

David Partridge in the UK

Brendan Smith in Australia

David and Bren are listed with their contact info as Gemini repair experts on this website:

I will be added when the website updates next....? I'm at mherman346@...

All the best,
Michael

Thank you for your advice.

Michael is pretty spot on.?

WD is a catch all error caused usually by program loop not completing. The G1 garbled displays could be (in no order): SRAM, CPU, EEPROM (or any IC in the data lines) even a bad HC display?

Normally I would give pointers to look at but this appears a multilevel fail and you will need replacement ICs and very good soldering skills to fix.?

Best to send it for repair unless you are experienced in SMD removal and replacement.?

Michael has pointed out the repairers pick your closest. G1s a fully repairable so don¡¯t fuss on it looking so sick....it¡¯s repairable

cheers
