Question - For Step 4 I get?straight lines with a round ball at one end.? I just guess based on the position of the ball.? Is it a little above or below the line.

I have run PEMPro several times and I get the same pattern.

Hi Jim

I hope the tip i put in there was more obvious -

if you don't get an L shape result, repeat it until you do and make sure you use 30 seconds. In my experience the "ball at the end, not an L" is probably some backlash not reversing in time, so it may take 2 or 3 times to get it?

Thanks Brian - I ran it twice using 15 seconds.? I will lower the gain and increase the exposure time.? I will also check my DEC backlash.

Jim just run it for 30 seconds, that should be enough

My experience was the 20 seconds wasn't quite enough so 15 seconds would be too short for me too

Will do.? I need to reduce the gain because the screen was white.? The camera saturated.

You are doing this at night right? I mean this is the same as imaging so in no circumstances should your camera be saturating at 30 seconds

Another great presentation love the view good ?sound settings?
After first starting up PEMPro ?I Did not have an image, was running sharp cap At the same time in the background. as per Ray suggestion once off I could get an imageUsing ASI 1600 MM ?So a good tip is thatThe image promptly appearsin the background when connect button is clicked
Btw Maximum length of data collection time in the trial version is 30 minutes
Btw I guess it’s OK to watch graph trail off the viewed tracing during Data collection as I did Succeed in getting ?a curve which I uploaded into Gemini

Looking forward to number four?
Now we’ve all got our homework to do so take your time?

Yes - at night.? If I back off it doesn't saturate.??

Hi Brian

Is this a good result. Using G11GT. PEC OFF then PEC ON.

Regards Richard

Hi RIchard

can you post your before and after log files? this doesn't really tell me much

happy to look at them

Hi Brian

?

PHD2 log files ?? That was going to be my next point, PEC ON or OFF just doesn’t give me a different, good enough tracking result.

?

Cheers Richard

Not the?PHD logs, i'm looking for the PEMPro logs
?
they are usually in My Documents->CCDWare->PEMPro V3
?
you can also use the log zipper under Tools

Richard

there should be two logs - one for the "PEC OFF" and one for "PEC ON" - they aren't labeled which is kind of a pain in the butt, but the on one should be dated later

Hi Brian

?

Now trying to remember the sequence of what I did.

?

Pretty sure I tried the night’s before curve then tried it inverted.

?

Then generated a whole new curve PEC OFF, uploaded to Gemini and straight away ran it PEC ON. The two pics previously sent.

?

OK, hand full of files from last night, attached.

?

Cheers

Will there be a part 4?

On Thu, Oct 15, 2020 at 12:37 PM, Jim Waters wrote:

I certainly hope, but am pretty confident Brian planned on it.

For me that would certainly be the most interesting part!

Here are the first thing that come to mind I would be interested in:

I would love to know more about what kind of curves you expect to see in ideal conditions. For instance I had drift and that caused my curves to drift over 20 arc-sec.
Can clutch slippage be ignored or should it absolutely be addressed prior recording a PEC dataset?

I know it has been discussed over at ccdware forums and Ray spent time explaining it. But on field experience would be great.
For instance Ray said in a TAIC presentation that the sweet spot was recording 6 to 7 worm cycles. But does this apply to a Losmandy mount?
Does taking an image every 0.1 sec or every 1 sec changes the number of cycles you should gather?

What are you looking for to determine if a recording session must be ended?

How many worm cycles would you recommend for verifying PEC?

Hi All

Is there a Part 4 somewhere ?

Where did this come from (so I can see all the parts)??
