Motor encoders for Gemini-1 motors
I just removed the encoder part from inside the US Digital unit (E2-256-079

in this case). It is a standard Avago/Broadcom HEDS-9100 used with a US digital encoder wheel. The whole unit is compatible with the HEDS-5500-F01 (for the original motors with 2mm shaft). It is the motor encoder that's faulty in this motor as I checked it using my G1 and my cables. Dave -----Original Message-----

Subject: [Losmandy_users] Motor encoders for Gemini-1 motors I have an RA motor from a G1 which I was asked to fix. It has dead shaft encoder. Does anyone know where I can get them? 开云体育Dave, ? That part number is obsolete it seems, looking at DigiKey. ? It appears the HEDS-9100 series is the appropriate replacement for the electronic module but check the data sheet at DigiKey for pinout and mechanical fit. ? DigiKey doesn’t seem to stock the 256-line incremental codewheel itself if that is what you need. They have a minimum order of 300 (!). Same for Mouser. Usually the electronics is what fails hard but if the hub fails on a codewheel it can get mangled. If you do really need a codewheel you might try Components-Center dot com. And make a special request for just a couple of units if you do need a codewheel. ? Or try US Diigital directly. You maybe able to order the complete kit (encoder electronics and code wheel) from US Digital. But again read the data sheets. I had to order one of theirs to replace an encoder on a Celestron for a friend. The pinout order was the same but the connector size was different. Not cheap for a single unit from US Digital but they do give good service. ? You may not be able to find the bore for your shaft but you can order one with a larger bore and then make/buy a little bushing pretty easily. ? By the way, have you tried cleaning (distilled water only) and re-gaping the codewheel? I’ve had to do that more than once in my life. But the electronics (usually the LED) do fail. You can usually see a signal on one channel but not the other when that happens. ? Best wishes, ? Mark Christensen |
开云体育Code wheel is undamaged and clean (it’s a US Digital one not an Avago (Broadcom) one).? The sensor inside the unit is definitely a HEDS-9100 which I’ve ordered a replacement for. ? Dave |
