G-11 Pwr Cable Connector
Ottocycle
Does anyone know where to get replacement 12V power cable connectors
(or complete cigarette lighter ready cables) with the screw down collar? I have discovered that much arcing and sparking is caused by poor mating of the negative contact. Could easily fry a G-11 or CI-700 control board. Losmandy doesn't show the cable as a replacement part and Kendrick's site isn't up. Thanx - Otto |

The Radio Shack model uses a slightly larger plug (5.5mm I think), but it works fine - I picked up one for a spare and tested it. These are fuse protected in the part that plugs into the battery so pick up a pack of spare fuses, just in case. It's in the $5-6 range. |

Just a note here, (to get it off my chest, and because I know

that Scott reads this occasionally :-) I absolutely love my G11. Fabulous piece of equipement. Built like a rock, and worth every penny. The ONLY cheap bit on the whole thing is the power cable. I learned this after accidentally stepping on it one evening and watching the plug break, ending early a productive evening of shooting. My solution was to buy a pack of the little plugs intended for universal power supplies. One of them was the right size, and I was able to build a corresponding socket for it. Now if I step on the cable again, the little end piece will simply come unplugged. It would be a good upgrade to include with the scope. My power cable broke when I tripped on the cable and the wires came out of
the cigarette adapter. After having to do some soldering I just tied a small knot in the cord right before the wires exit the cigarette plug. This way if you kick the wires they pull on the knot, not the solder connection. Just a tip. Sean Houghton shought1@... San Diego, Ca |
