Cable Snag

I am having an incredibly difficult time preventing cable snag on the G11 with the pier extension. This stims from 2 things. The design of the RA/Dec cables, and the clutches that hold the gemini II onto the mount. The later is a relatively easy fix; however, I'm at a loss on what to do for the former.?

I am snagging on these hubs during intial slew I'll occasionally snag on the dec. This I can fix as I'm almost always awake when I'm slewing to a target. But during meridian flip or sometime after I will almosst always snag on the RA cable hub and it ruins the entire night of imaging. I cannot be up all night or wake up in the middle as my work is quite busy and I have to sleep. I have had other mounts without this issue.?

I can think of 1 of 2 options. RA/Dec cables with a low profile (they attache and come out at a right angle so they are flush to the computer) or longer RA/Dec Cables so I can completely move the computer away from my cables. I have tried all sorts of variations on where the cables can be secured none are great or prevent cable snag due to the design of the Gemini II and the RA/Dec cables.?
?
That being said does anyone know of low profile calbe and/or Longer RA/Dec cables I could order preferrable with ample length so that I can completely move the gemini out of the way?

Can you include a pic of how your cables are going up to the scope? Maybe reroute the cables to your camera somehow. ?

Can you provide more info regarding your setup? Computer/ASIAIR location?

Just a thought …
Maybe get a barber’s cape/apron and fasten it at the base of the G11, so that it drapes over and covers all of the knobs and cable ends. The ones I’m familiar with are heavy duty and smooth so that hair trimmings fall off easily. Something like that might allow the cables to move without getting snagged. It could easily be installed/uninstalled and moved out if the way when necessary. You might even anchor the bottom edges to create a ‘cone’ below the G11 so there is nothing sticking out that a cable could snag onto.
I saw one on Amazon for like $6.

In the days long, long ago when I I owned an iron for dealing with my laundry I had not only an electric iron and an ironing board but an accessory that controlled the cord to the iron.
?
I have no idea what it was called but it consisted with a C-clamp to attach the whole thing to the ironing board and perhaps a foot or two of stiff wire with a loop at the end through which I routed the cord to the iron. It had, in addition, a coil spring next to the clamp which kept the wire with loop standing up straight. It worked quite well in keeping the iron cord from getting snagged on everything.

Ah! Here's one for sale.

Not that hard to make one of your own or modify one of these.

Sure though I have updated it, and i think my ulitmate plan is to just move the gemini way out of the way.?
?
I just ordered 2 of these
?
I then plan to move the Gemini completely out of range of my cables for the camera. So that should elminate that as an issue I would imagine. I'll post my full setup shortly.?

sorry I meant to go and get the image immediately. here is my current setup.?

What I do with the G11 is mimic what the DEC motor cable does by routing the camera cables (power and USB) between the clamp knobs, contained with a silicone band around both knobs. I use a fairly stiff USB 3 cable and I tape the cables together so that they form a gentle arch that keeps them out of trouble. Note I use a zip tie on the side of the Gemini bracket so I can control the length of the arch.

I've never had snag.

One thing I noticed is that your cables are going between the RA and DEC wires.? I would redo the cable bundle to one side or the other, based on which way the flip goes.? It's a good idea, cheap insurance, to test your setup inside.? I would just set mine up inside and run slewing tests with targets in Stellarium for future targets. For flip tests, set a target right before the Meridan and watch how the flip would go 10 to 20 minutes later.??
