Cable needed: Gemini2 Serial port to USB connection with FTDI.

Hi,
I am requesting links to sources for the cable for connecting the Gemini2 serial port to USB with FTDI.?
I don't mind connecting 2 cables together to make one, but it is difficult to know which cable (like on Amazon) that is correct pinout that works. I saw the nice pinout diagram on Losmandy website, but still need help.
Many thanks!

Hi Roger, what connector is at the output of your FTDI converter? Maybe share the model # so we can look it up.

Hi Paul,
I have not bought any FTDI or the cables.? That is why I am asking.
?
Thanks,

Ah, I see. You'll need an FTDI-based USB to RS232 adapter, usually with a 9 pin DB9 connector, such as .
?
Then, you'll need the DB9 female to RJ12 male cable with the correct pins connected. It is much easier to get this one pre-made for you, already wired correctly. Unfortunately, the pinouts are not exactly standard, so unless you find a cable for sale that's serial port, you'll need to either wire one yourself, or find one with the correct pins already connected.? Something like can help wire these.

Hi Paul,
Thank you for your clear response. Yes I am surprised to find so many cables with so many different pinouts. I am hoping someone who went through this process can make it less painful and provide a source, preferably Amazon since I am overseas and can get it easily.
Still Looking for someone's source to be posted.
Roger

That's worked great for me, reliably (running gemini 1 from mini PC). Bought 2, just in case chip dies out.

Hi Roger,
?
Astro-Gadget sells a couple of . The link gets you their 7m version for Gemini 2, but they also have a 3m version, as well as one for the Gemini 1.
?
if I remember correctly, they’re based in Ukraine so it may take a while for the cable to reach you, but they are a fairly well known company. They also have a nicely setup mini PC geared for remote astrophotography, just in case :)
?
Good luck

Thanks for that? Aliexpress link. I have ordered it.?
Roger

Well the UART jack is a RJ-45/12 with 8 conductor connections. Minium UART requires TX, RX and ground connections. You need to know which?connector on the plug gets which signal. Here's the pin outs.?

Easy to make if you?have a RJ plug crimper. I paid $40 for mine in the day.?Under a tenner now. I'd go for a Molex or Dupont type 6 position plug at the?usb to serial adapter. I have another crimper for these but you can get away with needle nose pliers. I generally use Dallas Labs or CKH adapters because they broke the FTDI monopoly and got prices down to under $2.
