Re: Perplexing RA Behavior
Can you explain sputtering a little more? Is it a sound or erratic Movement or both? Could be the worm is binding

Re: Perplexing RA Behavior
Lawrence,
The "sputtering" is not anything I have experienced or even read about.
It sounds like the kind of trouble Chip mentioned...the clutch surfaces are
either not flat, or if flat, they are

Thanks Mike and Chuck for the suggestions. I went back and rechecked, tightened and symptoms are quite different now.
Here's some background info:

Hi Lawrence,
Here is what I've seen, some people do not overload their mounts and and some people do overload their mounts. The thing is it makes no difference on a G11 as long as the mount has

Re: Perplexing RA Behavior
It's worth a try for like $19 + Losmandy shipping to try their new plastic
material. I have not got their new stuff... of course I'm happy with my
own stuff which is not flat plastic at all. I agree

Re: Perplexing RA Behavior
Lawrence,
How heavy is your scope+counterweights? If like my systems of heavy 10 or
12 inch SCTs, or long refractors, ... the stock clutches were prone to slip
if the system got bumped.
I found the

Perplexing RA Behavior
I am experiencing what behaves like an occasional slipping clutch in RA on my G11 with OPW purchased circa 2011. Clutch is brand new, gearbox is also new. I switched motors RA to Dec and vice versa

Re: 32s RA oscillation?
Hi!
OK, gearbox. THing is, I bought new gearboxes a few months ago....
And it seems the 32s period has increased its amplitude with the new OPW. I did nothing with the gearbox when installing the

No, not the tucked in. Mine is oldfashioned with motors straight out to the side.

Re: 32s RA oscillation?
The 32 second error would be the gearbox, I believe. I had that as well and when I checked the gearbox, I found the housing to be cracked and the gears running very roughly. After Scott sent me a new

Re: 32s RA oscillation?
If this is the conventional OPW (straight out the side type, worm under the
RA ring gear), then 32 (31.9) sec corresponds to the
"worm spur gear," according to PECprep's built in values.
I just don't

Re: Just purchased GM811GHD
You don't control the amps, it's basically electrical current capacity and you need a power supply that can supply at least as much as the mount requires. more amp capacity will not be a problem, less

Yes ¨C what he said ;)
Don¡¯t worry about amps, just make sure whatever you are using for up-converting the voltage can handle at least 5 amps
Thanks

Re: Just purchased GM811GHD
Ah...no worries. You only set the voltage between 12 and 18V. I now use
it at 17V adjusted. The system consumes the amps it needs to function.
How many amps?....
I measured the amps my CG11 /

Brian and Michael,
When you use these, voltage is controlled to go to 15VDC from 12VDC, how do you control the amount of amps that is delivered to the mount? I've read elsewhere that tracking
