Ethernet would be worthwhile. You get a lot more capabilities and better, more reliable performance than over USB, and certainly much better than a non-working USB ;)

Thanks for the input.? I'm cleaning with contact cleaner now.? Things looked dry when it started acting up.? My computer recognizes the usb is plug in but no comport.? May try to set up ethernet

Open it up and let it dry out.? Clean connections with isopropyl alcohol or contact cleaner.? Then try again.? Don't let water stay in it any longer than necessary.
