DIY Spring Loaded Worms for the G11
I've had about a half dozen or so nights out imaging with my OnStep converted G11.? My guiding has been pretty good, averaging around .65 to .75 with the old two piece worm blocks and HP brass

Re: Not enough USB ports!
Ian, Below is the approach I am taking now that my in-the-field astro laptop is getting long in the tooth.? I got a dedicated mini pc for about $250. Its a MinisForum GK41 running a decent 4 core

Re: next up: polar alignment tutorial
It would also be good to clarify if the mount needs accurate levelling or not. I always thought it wasn't important for polar alignment but would affect goto accuracy, but if you do a 3 star alignment

Re: Not enough USB ports!
Thanks for all the replies - I didn't notice the laptop also had a USB-C port - I'll try a USB-C hub and that should give me the extra USB port I need

Re: next up: polar alignment tutorial
Brian, A repetitive question which pops un a few times a year is how to orient the tripod legs. Do you want a leg or an opening going towards the celestial pole and how to create the best safety
Re: Not enough USB ports!
Ian, You'll probably find most of the newest cameras have a USB 3.0 input jack, and no ST-4 output which was common a few years ago. I like the ZWO cams since they have USB 2.0 outputs right on the

Re: Not enough USB ports!
I too bought a new laptop without an ethernet port. Like my laptop, I would imagine that you have at least one USB-C port. I bought a USB-C adapter that has one ethernet port, and three USB-3 ports.

Re: Mount sales must be doing great, glad I already ordered!
So do we have a support group for people suffering from anxiety waiting for their mount yet? :) Jokes apart, I can't wait to get my G811G mount any time now, I ordered on March 15th and I just hope it

Re: Gemini 2 response to pulses that are smaller than minimum
Yes, and Paul did a good job of summing it up One other thing to keep in mind is if your guiding is issuing these tiny pulses that are below the Gemini threshold, chances are your min moves are too

Re: Gemini 2 response to pulses that are smaller than minimum
There's no queuing of pulse guide commands. If a request is too small to result in movement, the mount will ignore it. Should the error continue to grow and exceed the minimum correction size, the

Re: Gemini 2 response to pulses that are smaller than minimum
There is the additional question of what happens with the guiding software.? If it sees that the shorter pulse change hasn't been made, it will make the request for movement based on the next

Re: Not enough USB ports!
Hi Ian the trend in laptops is definitely fewer ports :( As Les pointed out, the simplest answer is to get a USB hub Multi-function hubs are very popular as well, which include a variety of connectors

Re: Not enough USB ports!
Hi Ian, If all you want to do is connect a laptop to the mount and other accessories, you can easily purchase one of those USB hubs which also has an Ethernet port. Alternatively, you can use a USB

Re: Not enough USB ports!
The simplest option is to connect the cameras and Gemini to a USB hub that connects to your computer. You¡¯ll only need one cable from the computer to the mount. Make sure you use a powered hub.
