Re: Roadside Treasure will be a Counterweight
I had a subwoofer speaker blown one day and thought of throwing it out, but then I realized that the magnet is heavy and has a nice-sized hole, so I made a counterweight out of it. I bolt it to the

Thank you for the solid response Paul. I have a GM8 and G11 so the information is valuable.

Re: Minimum duration for Pulseguide?
The minimum duration will be based on minimum step size of the mount. Step sizes are: 0.375 arcsec/step for Titan,? 0.5625 for G11, and 1.13 for GM8. If the guiding rate is 0.5x, then the movement

Re: Minimum duration for Pulseguide?
Steve, Min Duration for Calibration ...that sometimes needs to be like 150 msec to get a good movement, depending on the FL of the scope. But min for guiding? That can be small... Overall, I think

Re: Roadside Treasure will be a Counterweight
Thanks for the comments everyone. Since I already have more than enough counterweights, I doubt if I'll ever make another one to of this piece of steel. I have some more photos that give hints as to

Re: Roadside Treasure will be a Counterweight
Probably an off cut on it's way to the scrapyard. Worth $1.70-2 there, $50 plus $16 shipping on eBay and you didn't even have to dumpster dive for it. If I was to have it machined I'd go for a radial

Re: Roadside Treasure will be a Counterweight
You may want to get some shop estimates before moving forward. Drilling the main bore hole to size and a second threaded hole to secure might not be that cheap (unless you have a buddy that can do it

John I thought I saw some bubbling on the U7 IC but it looks to be just the glue/lacquer Losmandy/Aveox used to glue down the firmware sticker on the DSPIC. I repaired a similar fault you

Roadside Treasure will be a Counterweight
My wife & I took a drive along the Oregon coast last weekend. We stopped at a turn-out near Gold beach. And there Renee' noticed a real treasure laying on the gravel - a cylinder of steel about 6-inch

Thanks Brian, that's what I meant. So next time I'll try and manually? slew a bit east before slewing to the target. Jamie
