Re: DEC latency in one direction
have you tried using the guiding assistant? That should give you a lot of good input and recommendations B

Re: DEC latency in one direction
PHD2 does complain about that when I am drifting... something about maximum pulse duration being too short, no matter how large a value I put in. g

Re: DEC latency in one direction
Sounds like it could just be DEC backlash. Have you tried measuring that with something like PHD2? B

Re: Motor encoders for Gemini-1 motors
Code wheel is undamaged and clean (it's a US Digital one not an Avago (Broadcom) one). The sensor inside the unit is definitely a HEDS-9100 which I've ordered a replacement for. Dave

Re: Motor encoders for Gemini-1 motors
Dave, You might also try Mall-IC dot com and ask for a single unit price. Mark C.

Re: Motor encoders for Gemini-1 motors
Dave, That part number is obsolete it seems, looking at DigiKey. It appears the HEDS-9100 series is the appropriate replacement for the electronic module but check the data sheet at DigiKey for pinout

Re: DEC latency in one direction
This is backlash in the meshing of the DEC worm and spur gears. It can be minimized by decreasing the spacing between the two (look for procedures in past posts of this group, which depends on your

Re: DEC latency in one direction
Greg, What happens when you continue moving in the unresponsive direction? Does it start to move smoothly after the big jump, or does it stall again and then make another big jump? You should pull off

Re: DEC latency in one direction
Hi Greg, It is important to take the cover off the (DEC here) worm and then rotate (rock) your scope back and forth around the DEC axis gently. Look for worm side to side movement. Sidecar side worm

Re: Motor encoders for Gemini-1 motors
I just removed the encoder part from inside the US Digital unit (E2-256-079 in this case). It is a standard Avago/Broadcom HEDS-9100 used with a US digital encoder wheel. The whole unit is compatible

DEC latency in one direction
I have been using my GM8 for about six months now. Have had the clutches apart and cleaned lube off the surfaces, got the enhanced knobs... rebuilt the pointing model a few times. All good. And yes, it

Motor encoders for Gemini-1 motors
I have an RA motor from a G1 which I was asked to fix. It has dead shaft encoder. Does anyone know where I can get them? Thanks Dave Partridge

Re: G11 Gemini 1 problem with Stellarium / Sky Safari
I have no trouble with this system for Stellarium : Download the separate program Stellarium-scope from Dragon-Welch computing. See what version of Stellarium that will support. Download that version

Re: Meridian Flip
Gosh, Rob! I have had the same experience as you have... load a "known good model" and ... very weird... the mount will slew to point my scope to the floor while I wonder what button to push to stop

Re: Meridian Flip
Michael, thanks for your reply. As you said there may be issues in connecting to a PC, I thought I would describe the way I am currently building a model after doing a cold restart. I launch Gemini.

Re: Meridian Flip
Hi. This, hapoens, can means your T pointing model is messed up. It happens because of the way the Gemini extracts the model parameters in sequence. It seems it cannot do a multidimensional least

Hi Tom. Yes I know these groups have no affiliation with Losmandy, poor word choice of "customer" in my last post implied that. Keith ---In Losmandy_users@..., <tomh@...> wrote : Keith
