Re: Warm RA Motor
I understand this, but there is a gray area I am in here, a cause and effect inversion of sorts. I was surprised this happened because I adjust my spring frequently, just for practice's sake. I even

FWIW, I would caution against increasing voltage to solve a stall that is accompanied by a warm motor. A higher voltage may help the motor overpower excessive friction or imbalance, but will also put

Re: Upload from PC to Gemini
I¡¯m a new G11G owner; new to the Losmandy Universe.
The first few times I had my Win10 machine connect to the Gemini, no problem. Then for the next 2 or 3 attempts I had the same issue you describe.

Russ, this has nothing to do with update, but a setting you've changed in the ASCOM driver. Is this the message you're talking about?
This is asked when you turn on the update advanced settings from

Are you talking about the "Set Gemini Time on Connect" or "Set Gemini Site on connect on the ASCOM "Configure Telescope" page?
Or the "Send Advanced Settings to Gemini on Connect" box on the ASCOM

Re: Warm RA Motor
Apparently, it was tracking with intermittent RA Stalling. I thought an RA Stall stops the motors. I had adjusted the worm gear a few days ago so I am surprised it tightened up so soon.

Re: Warm RA Motor
It is a DC Servo motor. They get warm under use. This is typical of all DC servo motors.
Generally speaking a servo motor will not be damaged unless internal temperature is higher than 130C and outer

Would anyone here happen to have copies of the firmware binary or hex code for the EPROM's for the Losmandy dual-axis controllers? Also it is my understanding that the EPROM code for the GM-8

Check the two Azimuth bolts and the Altitude bolt on the mount.. They may have been loose when you received the mount assuming you
would tighten them when you polar align.. And make sure the scope is

Hey there Loren,
That does help me understand a bit more; thank you.
My only additional question: Have you tried adjusting the worm block position to fit snugly on either side of the worm gear yet?

The term "springy oscillation" describes what I see when mainly centering the scope for visual use i.e. repetitive image movement with a period of maybe less than 1/2 second.
